It will probably depend on why they are saying no. But I would expect you will get a separate card and gift for your nos. Thats what I usually do.

Re: RSVPing 'No'
I think for the most part people send gifts depending on their relationship with you and their financial status at the time. We did get some gifts for our no's but most of them did not send one.
Some of them send cards after their respones, closer to the wedding and after.

Re: RSVPing 'No'
None of the people who RSVP'd NO to our wedding sent a gift and/ or separate card for the wedding. Totally understand that from acquaintances, but close friends (whose weddings we attended and gave generous gifts)?
In fact, some people who RSVP's YES and didn't freaking show up to the wedding didn't send a gift either.

When I've replied no, I've sent in a nice card with a gift a few weeks before the wedding.

Re: RSVPing 'No'
I have never heard of anyone sending checks with RSVP's BUT I have heard of people sending gifts / checks closer to the date if they weren't attending.

Re: RSVPing 'No'
ive said no before and not given a gift...really, if you think about it, why should i? you're not paying for me to be there so im not costing you anything... now, i dont want to get into the age old discussion 'well, its a 'gift' you shouldnt have the mentality that you try to cover your plate at a wedding...'
sure a gift would be nice, but is it necessary no? if etiquette said yes everyone should send a gift regardless, i'd invite people who didnt even know us and who i know wouldnt come just to get a gift

HA...I totally hear what you're saying. I was really only asking in regards to close family...wondering if anyone else had that issue. If people can't give then that's fine..I'm def NOT expecting anything...so what I do get is all that must nicer! LOL.
I would invite the whole world to my wedding if that was the case! HAHAHAHA> Would be awesome! LOL

That was my main point as well... there's about half of the NOs we got back that we went to their wedding and gave a decent amount...so I'm just sorta taken back. So what, they won't be there...I'm moving on. LOL

I would think people would send something closer to the wedding, I haven't heard of sending the gift with the 'no' rsvp...I know when I've had to RSVP 'no' I send the gift the week of the wedding

Re: RSVPing 'No'
Etiquette doesnt call for it some people do if they want some dont. What ***** the most is that the no's are from people close to you thats crazy. Maybe they planned a vacation on your date?

i guess cause its family you are kinda questioning but I know that the economy is real bad and maybe they couldnt afford to. Keep that in mind we are getting married during a financial crisis

Re: RSVPing 'No'
I never heard that you have a send a gift if you RSVP'd no. I think I only RSVP'd to one wedding in my life and I didn't send a gift. I did send her a gift to her bridal shower that I didn't go to though.

You know, I also just realized, I had four people show up at my engagement party with no gift, not even a card. And it wasn't like they didn't have the money. They came, drank, ate and left. They also showed me their new 300 dollar coach bags they got...
So, just be prepared for jerky people

Re: RSVPing 'No'
Yes it is the right thing to do to send something....but with this economy you really can't hold that over people. I know that a friend of ours is having a house warming party that we can not attend and right now I can not afford to send something.....so I am going to do it at a later date.

Re: RSVPing 'No'
We had a few No's with checks included. This was only from my husband's side of the family though.
I don't think there is anything in today's etiquette that states that you have to give a gift if you're not attending.
Be prepared that there are people that will come to your wedding and not give you a gift at all. Maybe not even a card. My sisters did this to me. So bizarre.
