RSVPing 'No'

RSVPing 'No'

Isn't it correct ediquette to send a small gift...? I mean, I know all the weddings that I got invited to but couldn't go, I would throw in like $50 or more in the RSVP envelope - but out of the 12 Nos I got so far, not one had anything. I don't honestly care either way, but I do't know...they are some of my family like aunts and stuff, and some of FH's close family too...I don't get it. Anyone else have this issue...I'm tying to sound like a brdezilla...I really could careless either way....I just would like to know correct ediquitte... Thanks.

i've known some people to send it closer to the wedding so it wasn't in the RSVP.

Out of all the no's we received 47 people total.. we received 5 'gifts'. Be prepared,.. you may not even get gifts from those that attend.

hmmm not sure if etiquette says you have to give something if you rsvp no, but i would wait bc you might still get something. Some of our guests who rsvp'd no did mail back the rsvp with a check BUT some didn't but then later on we did receive a gift off of our registry from them. Some right before the wedding but then some right after the wedding, so you never know. But yes some didnt give anything

Do you know if any of them are having any financial problems? with the economy now and the way things are i know alot of ppl are effected so might be a reason why.

I've never put money in the envelope, but I always send a gift off the registry if I can't come. People may wait closer to the wedding.

Only two people out of the 30+ that said no to my wedding sent a card with a gift.

I don't think there's anything wrong with not going to a wedding and not giving a gift. You didn't invited people just for the gift, so there's no obligation.

I was just going to say this...

My family isn't really from NY so they will send nothing, I would be lucky if they even RSVP....

FHs side is very 'proper' so, they send....

But trust me, many people think just a no is enough... FH and I always find their registry and send something to the house closer to the wedding...

Honestly I am not expecting anything from people on my side that RSVP no... I just don't know if they would even think to send anything! The majority of FHs family lives out of the country and that is the only reason they aren't coming to the wedding. (Most still want to come but FFIL doesn't want 40 people sleeping at his house for a month! ) I could so see some of them sending us gifts but I honestly don't know what the proper etiquette is for those types of things.

I don't think etiquette says you have to give a gift if you RSVP no. In fact, in this economy, I wouldn't expect any of our 'no's' to send us anything and I totally don't expect it. But a lot of people might wait until the wedding is right around the corner to send something.

I would say a handful of people sent us a card with a gift up until about 3 weeks after the wedding. With 'no' responses we didn't receive money in the response card.

Honestly, I don't really care if any of them send anything.....even if the people that actually DO attend don't bring anything...that's def. NOT the reason we are getting married. I was just wondering... I mean, I was taken back when my aunt and uncle said no... they come to everything, and I KNOW they aren't effected by this economy...we actually just saw them a few weeks ago... So I don't get it. I didn't know people would send things closer to the wedding...again, I don't really care. I was just wondering honestly. I'm def. not expecting it, but wanted to know what everyone else does or got. Thanks girls!

It's my Mom's brother - and he's never answering the phone since the invites went out. All seems fishy to me...but I'm over it. There will be so many other close family and freinds there, that I can't be let down by those who can't make it. Least I will know who is very important to me throughout all this. LOL. I'm OK with it... yes, it does hurt, but I just can't let it bring me down. Thanks so much.
