The one comment i hate the most is 'oh it must be so nice to have your parents helping out' and then they go on about how they'll have no help...
We get that one, too. But we live together, on our own, and are trying to save for a house. No way we can pay for both. Not on LI, anyway...

I think the winner came from my cousin, when I first called to tell her I was engaged. 'Oh, you're finally getting married?' and when I told her the date, ' Why are you waiting until 2008, is it going to take your mother that long to plan a wedding?'

I dont get why people say why are you waiting so long...I got engaged in july and after the first week of everyone driving me crazy with all the planning and arguements about things i decided to take someones advice, to take the time to enjoy just being engaged and letting it sink in before i start planning...Well in october we decided to book our hall, we wanted May which first off would've been hard to get bc the place we want is booked, I mean even when we went to look at may 08 most of the dates were booked and someone actually wanted our date but they never put a downpayment and after they called her numerous times they gave it to me, she kept putting them off, and second i dont want to plan my wedding in about 6 months...People honestly dont think before they speak.

they never do.. but ive realized everyone does what makes sense to them, and people dont understand until they are in the situation themselves..

Some people just like being negative i guess...I mean i appreciate my parents helping out, people act like they need to point it out to make sure i do appreciate it...I am extremely grateful and i do realize that alot of people don't get that help so it doesn't need to be pointed out to me...I told my parents i dont expect any money, they can dowhatever they want and what they are comfortable with.

i've gotten this about may! (oh, it's going to be so hot) ...b/c we were thinking about a tented wedding and they dont have AC's (they have fans)...but it's at night, on the water!! and sometimes May is really cold, so give me a break.

No one has said anything rude to me yet...and I will imply yet!!!!
But for those of you when people think that they can be rude just tell them that they are jealous of you and smile. Dont hate me because Im beautiful! I love when I get a reaction from that.
But rude people suck. Why do people have the right to mistreat anyone or think that they have the right not to curve their lip.

Wow thats rude...
All I can think of was my Grandpa tonight when I was talking about STD's...he said, 'No one is going to save the date for a wedding. Having it on a holiday is stupid, who wants to go to a wedding on the 4th of July' None of my family goes away for the holiday. We are always at bbq's or the beach, so its something for us to do now and my OOT friends always come to LI to enjoy our beaches with us. It really irked me.

The worst has happened recently when we started looking into a destination wedding. FMIL told my mother, 'How can they expect us to travel so far away. I can't believe how selfish they're being.'
We're including the costs of their travel in our wedding budget so they won't have to pay for anything but food while they're on vacation. I just wanted to kill her!

lets see FH aunts told me i should make sure i pick a place that blue collar people will feel comfotable in so it shouldnt be anything to fancy ... oh and she also basically told me i should rethink marrying my FH cuase i make more money them him ... are you freaking kidding me!!!
