If we could write a handbook for our FMIL's What would some of those rules be (meant in a funny/ sarcastic/ silly way)

#1 Ive dated your son for 7 years, isnt it about time you tell me what I should call you (Mom, Gloria, Mrs. C??)

Re: Rules for Mother In Laws

I honestly tried to think of something to write.. but, I mean I don't have too many complaints.

I am afraid to put her down as the RSVP contact for the RD-- she is scatterbrained and a little all over the place.. FILs are not paying- we are paying for it out of the the cumulative wedding budget. Does that count?

Re: Rules for Mother In Laws

Here's one:

#3) Don't tell me I'm doing everything 'so early'. You only have sons and, thus, you have no idea what is going on right now.

Re: Rules for Mother In Laws

Rule # 4
Your first born son is getting MARRIED!!! Try and act like you care... Maybe once every THREE months you could actually ASK how the wedding plans are coming or perhaps even OFFER your assistance....

By the way, in every other aspect I love my in-laws..

Re: Rules for Mother In Laws

#5) Stop calling and talking to his EX-girlfirends.... and don't tell them OUR business!

(and my own personal #6, for me only, would be Don't Tell Me How To Raise My Dogs!)

I LOVE my FMIL, but i have to agree with this one. to this day, i still dont call her anything i told FH that i cant wait till we have kids so that i can just call her grandma. Usually when i call, i say a long Hiiiiiiiii and then we just take the conversation from there

#6 We both love you very much. But please realize I come first now in his life. It does not mean he loves you ANY less. He just loves another woman in a TOTALLY different way!

Re: Rules for Mother In Laws

I love my FMIL but I would write...

Rule:
Its time to let your baby go, I will now be his wife and take care of him when he is sick, and not well....You will always be his mother, but its time to make room for a new woman in his life....

Re: Rules for Mother In Laws

10) Despite the fact that you only live two miles away, please call before you stop by. If you just stop by and wonder why it's taking us sooooo long to answer the door, well think about it... WE'RE NAKED Sorry, but it's happened twice.

My in-Laws live like a block away but we don't live with each other yet. But after we get married we will I hope they never pop up with-out calling first.
