I'm going to post this here, but I'll copy it to the 2011 boards too!!
We had the cake tasting tonight at Russo's....O...M...G!!!
They had 10 cakes out for us to try (peaches and cream, opera cake - chocolate cake with vanilla, chocolate and hazelnut, strawberry shortcake, orea mousse, tiramisu, red velvet, brooklyn blackout - devil's food cake with chocolate fudge/pudding and raspberry preserves, carrot cake, hazelnut, and cannoli). There's actually 25 different types of cakes you can choose, but they gave us the most popular ones for the spring/summer. They also had 5 different possible designs that we could choose from, but had a book with over 20 different designs that we could pick and choose from. So if we liked one design from one cake, but wanted different colors or different pipping or different flowers, that was totally doable!!
The executive pastry chef, Marco, and the executive pastry artist, Jesse, were there to answer any and all of our questions. They were able to give us opinions on what looked better and had alternate designs that we could choose from.
The first cake I'm posting is the cake that we want, but instead of a pink ribbon, we're going with a black bow and then our black crystal initial cake topper will be on top with red roses surrounding it. The other 5 cakes are those cakes that were present at the tasting!
Those are amazing. Who is your banquet manager? Mine fell off the face of the earth, and I want a food and cake tasting. You make me jealous and excited all at the same time. I love the cake you're getting. What flavor cake are you getting?

When we went in the first time, we had Audrey... and she really messed up our consultation IMO. I requested TOni Anne, but she left to go back to school I think... so now I'm stuck with Audrey again. UGH. She's always giving me wrong information, I can't stand talking to this woman!

My BM is Carol Silva and she was really great to work with when we booked. I guess I just wish she was more hands-on? I'm only 6 months away (give or take a few days) and I wish she'd contact me about setting up some tastings!! I'm guessing I'm going to have to set this up myself. I've mentioned it to Kelly at least twice and she said 'I'll have Carol contact you' but that doesn't happen. When I hit my 6 month mark, I'm going to start ambushing them with phone calls. I have so many silly questions, when did I turn into a bridezilla?? haha. If you don't like Audrey, definitely try for Carol. She was super nice.

FH's niece had her communion at Russo's and the cake looked like it was something off Cake Boss!! They have an amazing selection there, I'm so jealous!!!!! SC includes the cake too, but from what I've seen, they're NOTHING like that....I might have to find out what bakery Russo's works with and get my own cake

Russo's actually has their own in house bakery they do not get from an outside vendor....My aunt had her bridal shower here a few years ago and my Nonna wanted to get a cake from an outside vendor which they forbid bc they can make any cake in house and from the pics I see....they really look BEAUTIFUL!!
Are these upgrades at all??? They look awesome, I can not wait until next year to have mine!
FH and I are working with Don and he has been really nice and professional to work with. Any girls looking for a nice BM should request him! He has ALWAYS responded to my emails/VMs in what I would say is a very timely mannor!

I'm actually working with Audrey, although Carol has helped me as well. I havent had any issues with Audrey, but I am a pretty hands on bride so I've been calling her. I was the one that called to make a food tasting appointment. As for the cake tasting, Kelly emailed me and gave us two days to choose from.
The only cake that is from the upgraded package is the one with the draping on the bottom and the crytal bands around each tier. Every other cake is a signature cake.

If it doesn't work, FM me and I'll foward you the email. Like I said, all cakes can be changed or parts of one can be incorporated into another...any colors are possible for fondant and pipping.

i was a Russo's bride- i cant describe how wonderful they are there!! My best vendor by far!!!! My BM was ToniAnn but she left to go back to school so i finished up with Don. Both were awesome.
