Sad News...Lizlen2003 just called me

Liz- I am so sorry to hear about this. I can't even imagine what you're going through but we're all here if you need to talk. I'm thinking about you and your family.....

I am so sorry about your loss. I deeply empathize with you and your family...you see, my Father was killed by a drunk driver on New Year's Day 2000 by a 19 year old illegal alien with no license/insurance and a pending prior DWI. The drunk driver was on his way back from 7-11 with more beer at 8:30 AM. My Dad was on his way to church because New Years is a holy day. The drunk driver crossed the double yellow line and hit my father head on. Then, he and his two friends, fled the scene by foot, leaving my father behind.

With the help of the Suffolk County Police Dept and some loyal citizens, they found the drunk driver in time to test him to find his alcohol blood content to be .18. (.1 is the legal limit and they are trying to lower it to .08). He is now serving 4-12 years in a state prison for 4 felonies including 2nd degree manslaughter and leaving the scene of a fatality. He will be up this year for parole and when he is let out, he will be deported.

Ladies,
All I can say is please DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE!
Do NOT let any of your friends and family Drink and Drive! Do not get in a car with anyone who has been drinking! And please support legislation for stricter drunk driving laws! If they had pressed charges the first time this man was stopped for DWI, perhaps my Dad would still be with us.

I would hate for anyone to go through what Liz, Len and I are going through, especially around such joyous times.

There is no one I will miss more on my wedding day than my Dad!

Oh LIZLEN I AM SOOOO SORRY TO HEAR THAT! A friend of mine lost her sister to a drunk driver on the way to her high school prom. It is so sad to see someone taken before their time.
