Sad news...update

I haven't been on in a while, things have been so crazy. My FMIL has throat & lung cancer. Everything happened so fast within a month. First the docs gave her 2-4mths and now she is in ICU and waiting for a spot in hospice. I stopped all wedding plans but I found out tonight from his sister she wrote her a letter saying the wedding must go on. I just don't have it in me I'm so upset. She is actually a MIL that every bride would love to have. I don't know what to do. We were going to get married at her house so she can see it but now we found out she wont make it home. I just need to vent.

i agree with the other girls, see if you can do a small ceremony at the hospice ( or wherever she is at the moment) to let her be witness to it...

I am so sorry to hear that you are going through this.

I agree with the other girls -- while right now you may not feel in the desire to go on with the wedding (and that is completely understandable) a small intimate ceremony for her sounds like a great idea.

for your FMIL, you, FH and all of your families.

I'm very sorry to hear your news...I can't even begin to imagine what you and your family must be going through.

Could you get married at City Hall and have her be your witness? or as someone else suggested, could you have a simple ceremony somewhere else where she could be present?

I'm so sorry! She's definitely in my thoughts.
I know it's really hard...my mom had lung cancer and passed away about 3 years ago. As much as it might be hard for you guys to go on with a wedding, I'm sure it's what she wants. She wants you guys to be happy!

Everyone else has been so eloquent, that I don't know what I can add that hasn't already been said. I think the idea of a small ceremony at the hospital is wonderful, if at all possible. I will also be sure to keep you, your FH, your FMIL and your whole family in my prayers.

The only other thing I can add is to be sure to take care of yourself during this difficult time. I know how hard it is to be strong for other people, so make sure you're not skipping too many meals and try to get enough sleep. A time like this is physically and emotionally exhausting, so just try to keep yourself in good health so you can be there for everyone and help everyone get through this together.
