Sage's Log

Re: Sage's Log

Sage, I signed up to the gym - a local YMCA, and the sheer guiltiness of spending money towards gym kind of sort of makes me go, even if its only once a week...
However, this didn't work for my FH, as he's had many a times paid for membership and never gone (he doens't have to, but still its good to exercise)
I have no space in our tiny brooklyn apt. to work out, except maybe do crunches...Otherwise, I would try it, probably. The elyptical machine is good only if you really challenge yourself (put it on higher resistance), otherwise, I find walking at 4mph more challenging, but also more boring.
Sometimes if I am at the gym and I am exhausted, I close my eyes and do elyptical that way. You can't really do the treadmill with closed eyes.

I posted on WW thread what to do about pizza, have a slice, no deep dish, and stick to diet coke (in fact, have to, just to fill up)

Re: Sage's Log

Ok, Alina....I can do it....ONLY 1 SLICE...I Just have to limit myself!
Re: exercise....I used to belong to the gym, but I never went (like your FH) and was just wasting 80$ a month!
My apartment is small too, so when I do certain exercises I hit the coffee table with my foot and it's so funny....FH laughs at my clumsiness....hahaha
I wouldn't reccomend it!

What's a girl to do?

Re: Sage's Log

Sage, can you pair up with someone from slim down tab, and walk outside for about an hr, a few times a week?
If I lived on LI I would offer it to you, but I don't Or alternatively, wanna move to Park Slope? (just kidding)

Re: Sage's Log

woo hoo - I just did my 20 minutes of flexing and firming!

and I have my pottery class tonight which is great for the arms (the wheel works the triceps and wedging the clay works forearms)

(guess this should go in my log)

Re: Sage's Log

Good Job Lisat!!!!!
I used to take a pottery class...how fun!!!! Do they let you fire it there?

Re: Sage's Log

they will let me fire it - once I produce something worthwhile.

Tonight's only my second class (it was one of my christmas gifts). But I was amazed how sore my triceps were from the wheel last week - yay! And since I'm not working right now, I have plenty of time to play during their open studio time. I've always wanted to take a pottery wheel class.

Re: Sage's Log

Sage, I went to ww meeting today, and was told 2 confusing things.

a)at the begining of the meeting, the leader was showing how many pts we were supposed to have, and said that if we're at the bottom of the weight range, then we should try to eat the bottom range of points and visa versa. Then I followed up later in the discussion...

b)I asked the the point ranges are for weight loss or maintenance => the answer was for weight loss

c)then I said, well, if I am at the bottom of my range, I have to eat 18 pts, which makes me feel like I am starving. I mentioned that most of the time I eat at the top end of the range. She asked if I lost weight, and I said, yes, w/out mentining how much, and she basically said that if I am losing weight at the top end of range, then its ok.

so now I am confused, but i'll still shoot for the middle of the range.

Re: Sage's Log

Still only the second cup...YUCk!!! I have taken Pilates before, its just that the times that they were offering lately was just too late. I will give you an update later.

Re: Sage's Log

UGH!!!!
That is where i get so confused.....You would think if you stayed at the bottom of the range, you would lose and if you stayed at the top you would just maintain....
But you lost.....
I lost too the first week and then gained the 2nd, but only 2 oz....
If I can go 1 week with staying at the bottom of my points range (not over 20 pts.) I think it wisll shock my body into weight loss mode....
But the problem, as you stated is that I am starving and can never make it that far................

What to do?

Re: Sage's Log

well, now I am finding diet sprite pretty satisfying and filling . You mentioned that you eat dinner, right? How late do you usually eat it? Perhaps try to eat heavy lunch and light dinner?
Or exercise (mind you I lost 1.6 lbs over 2 weeks, not one week) and that's with exercise.

The elyptical thing burns about 250 calories in my weight in 30 mins, without over exertion.

If you eat the same, and do elyptical 3 times/week for 30 mins or more like 14x per month, you'll lose a pound a month?

I think the top of the range is also made to lose weight, probably just slower.

Re: Sage's Log

Yeah ....I don't belong to a gym though....so it's either running - walking or doing a tape in the living room!!!!
I do eat dinner but at like 7 or 8 b/c I am always working late and then have to commute home....
So you are right - I need to start either eating a bigger lunch or eating a snack (ie...an apple, banana or something) before I leave work...

I think that might help the night cravings....

THose are the worst - and that's when I so easily give up!
