Re: Salary....
I don't really have a salary because I am in school but FH does very well, he would kill me if I ever posted his salary on here so I won't do that. There is a point here...wait for it....ok, FH loves making budgets, it's this little nerdy habit he has, with this budget, we are able to afford a very decent house and he does NOT make 170k, so you girls that are making a combined salary of 170k with your FH should sit down and make a budget and you'll figure out exactly what you can and can't afford because I think you can afford a lot more then you think you can.

I actually make what sounds like a very good salary, and FH makes about 35K more than I do, and can you believe that together we're still having a hard time finding an affordable house in Queens!!!
honestly, it's not surprising. house prices are ridiculous. FH and I make a decent income combined and we can't afford anything where we live in PA.
Honestly, combined FH and I make about $170k and we have a hard time. I hope it gets easier on our generation. I cry everytime I have to but gas in my truck.
I am so glad I'm not the only one. FH and I combined make about the same, and it's not easy. People hear that and they don't understand. It's sounds like a good amount of income and we can't live in NY off of it.
Excuse my language, but thats total BS.... my parents make a whole lot less... and not only do they own a condo but they have a house upstate, plus boat, camper, quads, snowmobile, etc etc etc .... You can def afford something 'decent' on 170... plz... u could even afford something very nice!!! maybe it wont be a mansion in the hamptons but give me a break..... like others said, spending way above your means is why people end up saying these things...
Wow, I kinda feel attacked by this comment. FH and I save money in our savings and contribute to our IRA, pay for our house we just bought [in nassau county], put money towards the wedding, pay for my commuting back and fourth to the city [where I work], pay for 2 cars, 3 car insurance [his car, my car and his work truck], and help our families out. So before you say that $170 is a lot and I can live fine you should really hear the whole senario. Yes we go out to dinner and I have nice stuff, but I also work 3 jobs and 7 days a week, so I feel as if I deserve to treat my self once in a while. FH and I bust our butts and the only thing I said that may have seemed like 'complaining' was that our economy is making it hard to live ie. Gas prices etc.
Sorry you feel attacked but its frustrating to hear about how hard it is to live for someone making a considerable amount of moeny more than most. Just like you said we should know the whole story, you dont know everyone elses and I (making a LOT less) felt frustrated by your comment. We all work hard. If you don't want to work 7 days a week (i odnt blame you) make your 'treats' either cheaper treats or more spread out.
I think that all these comments were un-called for, rude and judgemental. If you are all so unhappy making so little than get new jobs. And if you want to make comments and pass judgements on people you don't know then go right ahead.
Weren't you the one who first posted that you were unhappy with the amount you were making? Im quite content...and I think the others who posted were too...

I never said I was unhappy with what I was making. I think I do rather well. I made a comment about the economy. That was all.[/QUOTE
well then I guess we all misunderstood you...I agree the economy is in a very messed up way right now.

Re: Salary....
I disagree, there was no miscommunication on the very simple statement I made, people just wanted to pass judgements but thats fine I guess.
Actually, (and no I cant speak for others) but I didnt really get your whole economy thing from your original post. So, I actually DID misunderstand.

Me...45,000 for my teachers salary(private school ...and and extra 15-20,000 for my aba home hours a year --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WOW!!! I have to say they REALLY need to increase teachers salary!!! All the hard work you guys do!!! And a four year college plus ain expensive masters. I always thought Teachers started at least in the 60's --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You have to take into consideration that this is for a private school.
Yes my pay is lower due to it being a private school...but it is actually more then most. I make up the difference by doing ABA home hours after work so I actually am in the $60,000's and I work about 45 hours a week. So I can't complain too much. And my school lets me buy whatever I want and pays for it...and I think many public schools only give you a couple hundred for supplies if im not mistaken.

Re: Salary....
I think its kind of mean to say that the person who posted this shouldn't have.
First: in the original post didn't it state 'IF YOU DON'T MIND ANSWERING' Therefore if you don't feel comfortable talking about money then you shouldn't have answered it.
Second: Aren't we the 09 board that boasts about tolerance and being able to post whatever we want on a public forum????
