Does anyone know how much design room you have if you're using the cake they give you? I found a couple of cool designs that I like and I want to get a cake topper that goes with them, but I don't want to get one and then find out they'll only do a plain one. It's not THAT important to me, just curious.

here is a picture of our friend's cake from their wedding at the Sandcastle 2 weeks ago (just to give you an example of something they will do for you)
they told me to just bring in a picture of the cake that we want and they will do their best to replicate it

talk to your BM!! they will pretty much do anything you want. but depending on how complicated it might be a little bit more $
i had pics of 3 different cakes that i brought in and i wanted to incorporate different aspects of each. it wasnt a problem.
i did need sugar flowers, which the bakery doesnt do, so needed to be ordered. so that might have been an additional charge

Hey I am getting married at the sand castle july 2, 2011! I am super excited! I didn't realize there were other sand castle brides on here! Do you have any pics of your cake you can post?

when you go in about a 2 months before the wedding, they will show you a book with sample cakes -- we weren't too fussy about the cake so we picked one right off the page. If you go on the sand castle website, they have a few pics of cakes that should give you a good idea. Also, if you have anything in mind bring a pic when you go for your cake tasting.
