Sans Souci Brides

Are any of you using the house florist? I went to see him last night and got a great quote. I still don't know too much about him though. Any advice?

Hedgecock florist

I'm not getting married until July 2003, so I haven't really started on flowers yet. But I did think that the samples and his prices at the showcase were really good. I searched for other Sans Souci brides on this site, and e-mailed one who used him to ask what she thought. She said the flowers were beautiful and he was really easy to work with, really listened to what she wanted and didn't want. I did go see a florist in my hometown, and their quote was about twice what he told me at the showcase.

Clpunch: When I met with the florist he was very easy going (e.g.'Pay me whenever...'). The price quote he gave us was unbelievable - that was why I was somewhat concerned. We are getting an upgraded centerpiece for 15 tables; flowers for the entire bridal party (14 in all); flowers for the moms, stepmom, dads, stepdad and grandparents; the cake; church flowers; flowers for the ladies room; etc. all for under $1000. I am VERY glad to hear that a bride said they were a quality florist. Thanks so much for the info!

Here's what i've done

I'm getting married at the Sans Souci in less than 3 months. We have not met with Donald Hedgecock Florsits yet, but plan to soon. We are using him for our table centerpieces and although we believe his centerpieces are great as is, we are most likely going to do a $30 upgrade for our tables. However, I was a little concerned that he was in Queens and I am getting married Mother's day weekend (BIG flower day for all florists)! So I was afraid of it being very busy that weekend and I imagined my flowers not arriving on time that morning (I am having a morning Mass). So I went with a very local florist for our bouquets, corsages and bouts. I am having 6 BMs, 6 ushers, and need 4 corsages, and we got a quote for $630. So I was happy. That's all I'll end up spending on flowers if we don't do an upgrade. But yes, several past Sans Souci brides have used him and he comes highly recommended, so if you're happy, stick with him.

Visited him in Queens

I am getting married at Sans Souci in June and met with David in October. Before the visit with him, I was convinced that I was not going to use the house florist. In fact, when we pulled up to the shop in Queens, I said to my mother no way. But when I went inside, his arrangements that he was preparing at the time looked great (All fresh flowers in bloom, etc). He talked with me for over an HOUR and a half (and this was preplanning). While his arrangements are very traditional, he told me if I wanted something in particular to bring in a picture and that he could do it. I hope this helps to reassure you, but I really think you should go to the shop and meet with him

I'm definately going to see him once we pick out BM dresses. With his prices being so reasonable, I'm sure we'll go with him. And I thought he was really nice and low key, which is really important with me. As soon as they go into overzealous salesperson mode, I get totally annoyed and tune out. Are either of you having the ceremony there? We are, and I was just wondering what kind of flowers are on the arch.

clpunch - We are not having the ceremony there but I saw many pictures in his books of the archs that he does. It seems like he will do any kind of flowers you'd like (within reason). I am sure it is the same deal as with the centerpieces that are included in the package - They will just go along with your color scheme. I am sure if there is something specific that you want, he'll work with you. Good luck - Thanks for the advice everyone!
