I did mine alittle before the 1 year mark. this way everyone has it and they know already.

I sent mines out at the 8 month mark (and some ended up going out at the 7 months before bc I didnt have all addresses)

DO NOT send them to EVERYONE! please i have read too many horror stories on here. your guest list WILL grow. Only send to the DEFINITES: family and CLOSE friends. TRUST ME! my guest list changed SO MUCH i must have cut 30 people from my old job that i SWORE i would stay close with but i havent talked to in over two years. thank goodness i didnt send them out!

thats a good idea.....maybe in feb i will send them out to all the definites - then i can always send out the rest a few months later - which woud still be a few months before the actual wedding.....i dont think my guest list will get cut though - i have a feeling we might have a hard time reaching our minimum so we probably will keep adding to the list but i really dont want to go over our minimum and pay more $$
i just wanted to do save the dates bc our wedding is around the holidays so i want people to remember our wedding

Yeah, we did the same thing. We only sent them to definites and I'm so glad that we knew not to send to everyone! You will be surpised how many people you think you want to invite that you end up not wanting to. I'd only send to people you absolutely are going to invite. The rest you can just wait and send the actual invitation to!

i think the sooner you send them the better it is...and sometimes when you send them to people they realize you got engaged and send you a little gift too...
as far as how many to send definitly send them to the people you are going to DEFINITLY invite...because if you send them to everyone and then decide you have TOO many guest you still have to invite them because of the STD you sent...
but the sooner the better
i am in the process of picking mine my wedding is november 1508 but my e-party is dec 7th of this year and i was going to give them out then and then just send them to the people not invited to the eparty...
