Save the Dates
Hey 2015 Brides!Well...tick tock...it's almost a year till my wedding (AHHHHH!) and I haven't created or sent out my save the dates yet. I was kind of hoping to be able to use professional photos taken at our engagement photo session, however; I don't have a photographer yet. No one has knocked my socks off, and I've met with 4 different companies (I have 3 more appts booked hopefully one of those will blow me away!).
What do you think the cut off is to send out save the dates? Should I just use regular pics that I like in order to get those save the dates out? Opinions, advice would be greatly appreciated!!

I think you have plenty of time to send them out. I know some girls like to do it around the one year mark but I know plenty of people who sent them out 6-8 months before....If you really want to send them out theres no problem just using a nice picture of the two of you either

Do you need any help with the photographer? Who have you seen?
So far we've seen:
Silverfox Photography
Camelot Photography
Jo Von Photography
Patken Photography
and JayLim Photography
We also have 3 other appts booked. I liked some of the ones we saw so far, and some of the prices were good; but I can't say I am dead set on anyone yet. Do you have any recommendations??
Thanks for the advice ladies, I feel a little better now. I think I am going to try and hold out for our engagement session so I can use those pictures for my save the dates, since it seems I still have a little bit of time left!!
Thanks!

If you really want to have an engagement session and to use those photos instead of something you already have I would say hold off, you have the time although I understand about wanting to send them around the year mark. That being said we are using Gil from Fade to Black and he is rather awesome. If you haven't set up a meeting with him you should check him out. Good luck with everything

I have a friend in Florida getting married 3 weeks before us... we sharealot of mmutual friends so we plan on getting through the holidaysand then sending ours or no later then April. we r using our own pics, however a friend who used to do photography is going to shoot us for free. I want to take a bunch of funny pics so they will still ne be new special for the std but not 100% professional bc we can't afford it. we r going to Wal-Mart and getting cards made.also my suggestion on photographers is lighthouse. if I had a choice I would have looked into them. bc I doing an all inclusive package I don't have a choice. but there is a 2013 bride that got married at thatched cottage and her pics were absolutely stunning! I don't know anything about cost or anything like that. hope this was helpful.

Re: Save the Dates
My wedding is less than 8 months away and we plan on sending our save the dates in the next week. I think you're fine waiting till you get your pictures. I'm a silverfox bride! Take a look at my album if you want to see more of their work. Love them!!

I sent mine out a little over 6 months before....you have lots of time, though you might want to get moving on the photographer!

I sent mine at the 10 month mark. Personally I would wait until after the holidays so your save the dates don't get mixed in with everyones holiday mail.

We sent ours out around the 6 month mark. Some places will do the engagement shoot jobs separate from wedding packages. It might be a good way to see if you like one of the photographers or to also cross the engagement shoot off your list if you have a timeline for your save the dates. We had a hard time finding someone and ended up booking a photographer based out of Brooklyn since we were having a hard time finding a LI photographer we liked. Good luck!

So here's another Save the Date question lol, where are you ladies buying your Save the Dates from? I am thinking about going with a magnet type of Save the Date.

We did magnets and ordered from magnetstreet.com. I was very particular and wanted our colors and they let you customize colors and fonts, plus you see the changes as you make them on your computer. Great for the OCD bride like myself! Do NOT pay full price. I googled coupon codes and tried several different combinations and ended up saving $40 plus got free shipping.

I know I have plenty of time, but I ordered a sample from idomagnets.com. There's a code you can enter to receive a free customized sample. They send you an email preview first before they mail it to you. Even if you want to change the color of something you can email them back and they will change it and email it agin before mailing it. I don't know if they are still running the promotion though, check out their website!
