what do you think is a good number to have in your savings before getting married like how much between u and your FH will you guys have in your savings prior to the big day?

so get this FH and i will have over 60K between us and yet now hes saying hes concerned it wont be enough and we should postpone:(

The wedding has taken it all. My goal is to have enough to cover rent when we get back.

Exactly. What little we have (and it is little...we're jst out of college) will go to the wedding. Im going to see if NRC will let us take home leftovers, b/c it's the only way we'll afford to eat after the wedding.

he started saying betwen having to get new car(his is dying) and other expenses it wont be enough i'm like um are u planning to quit or something your job after we're married hes like no i'm like ok so we'll still be making even more money...

You totally have enough money. That is crazy!

You're right, you'll still be making money so you'll still be adding to your savings.

Let me put it this way. FH has no savings. I had about $16K before we moved in together. But after buying furniture and dipping into it to pay rent every month, I'm down to about 4.

You 2 will be very well off if you've got $60K and both have good jobs! Good for you!!!

We hope to have this amount too the day before. We sat down and said realistically the day before the wedding, if we have this much in the bank, if we do not get a cent back from the wedding, we will be fine. We are also paying for our wedding without putting anything on credit! So far it's been tough and now that the new fall fashions are coming out it's torture!

Maybe when asking this question you should ask who is paying for there wedding and who isn't. The couples paying are going to have a harder time saving while the ones not paying the wedding will be all profit.

We are paying for the wedding and are hoping to have at least 60 K saved after paying for the wedding!

How are we going to buy the house without the money saved.

If any of you girls have a house already then you shouldn't really be to worried about not having sooo much saved.

You already bought the big expense!

Also, a big factor would be the age of the bride and groom. Fh and I are both in our thirties (well, I will be in Dec.) and we both have been working in our jobs for lengthy periods of time. If I got married five years ago, we would be struggling more than we are now.
