Saw some more halls this weekend.

Hello,
Well for anyone who had not read my posts last week i had already seen Millridge (too small) Sans Souci (not impressed at all) and Riviera (LOVED IT) and Stewart Manor Country Club (Very Nice Too).
This weekend we went to GW Manor (very nice but wasnt crazy about the room) We also went to North Ritz (wonderful room would recommend it to anyone having a BIG wedding we arent so we would have to have an afternoon and still probobly couldnt make the 150 gaurentee)
And lastly we ssaw fox hollow which is very nice but wanted to get some input from anyone who has been there or is planning ther wedding there.
Again the gaurentee is a problem so we would probbly have to do an after noon wedding there which is not teh first choice but we are starting to be more flexible.
Any input.

Re: Saw some more halls this weekend.

i didn't read your other post so i have no idea what you're looking for but i just thought, based on the fact that you're having trouble with the guarantee, that i would suggest looking at the old field club in setauket. i'm getting married there in september. they have no guarantees, and they only do one event a day, so you can start whenever you want and the place is yours for the entire day. it's really quite pretty although less glitzy than a lot of places on the island :) just thought i'd suggest it. good luck in your search.

the website is
http://www.oldfieldclub.com

although it's not that great of a site and the pics really don't do it justice :)

Re: Saw some more halls this weekend.

I've never been to Fox Hollow, but have heard good things about it. I have been to the Riviera for a wedding, and it was great! Cocktail hour was outside, the place is so pretty and intimate. The food and service were great, and I would definately recommend it.

Wish I could be of more help!

Re: Saw some more halls this weekend.

We're going with the Fox Hollow. I've been to many events there and felt they have always done an excellent job. Sooooooo many people have told us great things about them and we were really impressed with them when we met with them. Plus, they have the Inn right next door so out of town guests have a place to stay and you don't have to travel far that night either. I highly recommend them. Let me know if you want any more info on them.

Re: Saw some more halls this weekend.

One more thing, they were willing to lower our minimum guarantee, so talk to them about it. WHich room were they pushing you towards?

Re: Saw some more halls this weekend.

I have been to the Fox Hollow a few times for weddings. I love it there!! It is so pretty and I see that you would be getting married in July. The grounds are beautiful. The food is great also. Since you mention a problem with the guarantee, I am not sure which room you looked at. I have only been to weddings in the big room. I think it is called Garden Terrace?? But I loved the place!! I am getting married at another Scotto Brothers site -Westbury Manor. I am not sure how much you need to guarantee there for the smaller room?? Good luck!!!

Re: Saw some more halls this weekend.

Thanks for the great advice.
We are looking to keep it in nassau so i guess the Old Field is out but thanks anyway.
Yes they said they were flexible with the minimums. We really could have our reception in the room thats all open, i forget the name, but for my reception i prefereed the Briar room it was down two steps and therefore our cocktail hour would be in the room that i cant seem think of the name.
It ws very nice the whole place I thought. But rightt now I am really hoping my food tasting on saturday is good and we can book riviera i just love that place so much. :0

Re: Saw some more halls this weekend.

I am also booked at Fox Hollow. We have the Briar Fox room for the reception and the Winter Garden Pavilion for cocktail hour. I have never attended a wedding there myself, but I know many people who have and they loved it. As far as my experience has gone so far, I have nothing but good things to say. They have been wonderful. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

In regards to the Riviera, I have never been there, but my mother attended a wedding last December and said it was wonderful. She loved the place and the food. Hope you have a great tasting!

Good luck.

Re: Saw some more halls this weekend.

I am also a Scotto Brothers Bride like BabyBride I am getting married at the Westbury Manor. I have been to a few wedding at the Fox Hollow and thought the food was excellent and the service was impressive. I went to a Sun nite weddin in the Winter Garden room and my friend only had about 125 - her cocktail hour was in the resturant and it was fantastic! Good Luck!

Re: Saw some more halls this weekend.

Fox Hollow is simply AMAZING! My brother got married there 2 1/2 years ago and we are all still talking about it! I wanted to have our reception there but didn't want to do a repeat! You really cannot go wrong with SCOTTO BROTHERS! The food, the service, the only thing is they do have more than one wedding/event, but that isn't such a big deal to everyone! hope this helps a little! My bro & SIL have nothing but great things to say!
