say goodbye to booby...

say goodbye to booby...

yes, sad to say, I have had to pack away my nursing bras. the milk fairy has moved on to another...
I had experienced pumping problems..where I would pump for like 45 min and only get 1-1/2 ounces if that. (talk about patience!)
Peditrician who whole heartledly supports BF said I may want to offer fomula bottles after nursing J...and sad sad sad to say breastmilk is gone.

Seems weird to sit in my glider with the boppie and feed Julianne a bottle!..but she ****s down 7-8oz at a sitting! maybe next dr appt whe wont be inthe 10% percentile for weight! (plus she is able to eat more table food)....

sigh- sad day ladies...

for those of you on the fence about BFing...I was unsure I could do it...but someone else said it best: what you will do for your baby! ...now I really miss it.

waiting to go bra shopping and get re-measured. (girls are still bigger than pre baby times! yikes!)

Re: say goodbye to booby...

Aww Phyl, I am sorry to hear. I dread the day when I have to stop BF. I never thought in a million years that I would actually do it and eventually come to love the closeness that I have with my daughter.

I swear to you my girls were off limits prior to the baby, if you know what I mean so I thought it would be hard.

It is surprising what you do for your child. I'm glad to her that your little girl is doing great, and she will stay that way with or without your boobies!

I'm so sorry you have to stop. I love BF Damien and we just started. I can only imagine how hard it will be to stop. How old is she? I'm just wondering when I will have to stop.

Awww... Im sorry it has to be over. I dont know what Im going to do with Emma. She nurses about 3 times a day now (morning, noon and bedtime) I dont know how I am going to be after its over. Its been 15 months. Its all I know.

to you!

Stacey - for your question... you stop when you are ready or when your little angel is ready to stop. THere is nothing that dictates when you should stop... although 6 years old is pretty abnormal

I had the same problem. Sorry to hear it!

Re: say goodbye to booby...

I was in the same boat as you a few weeks ago. Annalise is also in the 10% for weight, but I am skeptical about whether formula will help her weight. She has been weaning for weeks and I am down to one nursing session at night after she takes a 4 oz. bottle. I think she is getting only 2oz. during the session. I also pump in the morning so I can have 1-2 oz. for her cereal. My boobs have started shrinking but are not back to pre-preggo size yet either. It feels strange for me too when I ask DH to make a bottle and feed her or I give her a bottle myself. I never thought I woulld have BF for this long, but it worked. I too encourage all moms who want to do this to give it a try.

Try to enjoy the time you have now free of pumping. You have done her a great 'service'. You should be so proud of your accomplishment.

My Dad was just talking to me about people like that yesterday. I think when a child can come up and unbutton your blouse it is time to stop

Re: say goodbye to booby...

Stacey - Emma comes up to me sometimes and pulls on my shirt and says Ma mook (ma milk) she knows what she wants but she still can have it with no question for another 9 months if she wants then we are going to slow down considerably

Phyl I feel for you, sweetie! I only pumped for 4 weeks, and I cried and cried for weeks after I had to stop (due to medical issues). I can't imagine how strange this must be for you!

I think it's a blessing that you were able to BF for so long. And good for Julianne that she took so well to the formula! Big girl!

Hang in there, Phyl! It will get easier!

While it is sad, it also means that you are now able to do a bit more for yourself and not feel the pumping pressure anymore.

Phyl, you did a GREAT job BFing this long and giving your daughter the best nutrition that mommy can give her! (and the snuggling that goes with it )

I cant wait to try BFing again and do it for as long as I can.
