Saying your Vows

Who will be saying their own vows?

My cousin did this on Sunday and it was beautiful.

As for me, I'm not sure yet.

No way! Not here. Although, we both would really like too. We both feel that we might get to vervous so, we decided to just repeat after the officiant!

We were told by Regina Pacis that we could not do our own. That for the Catholic ceremony we have to do the traditional? I never heard of that...but I guess thats what we're doing.

We won't be saying our own vows, but I'm catholic and you are allowed to say your own vows, but it has to be after you say thier vows.

Yes, Nina and all of the other ladies getting married in a catholic ceremony will NOT be able to say their own vows. in the catholic wedding, there are set vows that you say. i think it's nice... instead of thinking of it like 'oh we cant write our own, i like to think of it as, wow....these very same vows were spoken by parents, grandparents, etc. etc. as well as millions of people for a thousand + years. I think that's awesome! Also, SOME priests let you add something of your own, but it's not too typical, but you could ask.... but that would be in addition to the traditional vows.

My cousin got married in a church and had a very catholic ceremony and they were able to say their own. They also said the traditional as well. I think it depends on the church.

I'm with you!! It would've been nice but it would've taken us forever to get through them through our tears!!

I would LOVE to but we're not sure yet. I don't know if either one of us could get through it without hysterically laughing or crying.

Re: Saying your Vows

When we sat down with Pastor April (she ROCKS) She gave us all diff. versions of vows.. so they aren't personal ones but we did take what we liked best from each one and made them 'personal'
I also have a backup plan if i can't get mine out.. she will say most of it and i just say 'i do' .. since I can't even read my beautiful personalized ceremony without getting all chocked up and teary eyed...

Re: Saying your Vows

We're both Catholic and have to repeat the church mandated vows, BUT we do have the option to add to what is said after we say the church vows. I don't think we will because I'll be a nervous wreck!!! My FH definitely wants to. Dunno yet.

I'd get way too nervous to say my own vows so we're going to go the safe route and repeat after our priest.
