I'm getting married at leonards next december and I was looking for a scenic area nearby. (Keep in mind, i'll be getting married in december, that makes it a bit tricky, lol) Any suggestions? TIA!

Re: Scenic areas near leonards?
I, too, am a Leonard's bride, and am interested in a scenic area (I'll be getting married next Nov).
When I met with a photographer, he mentioned that there's a little park just a bit away from Leonards...he said it's nothing special, but it has a little bridge that can make for very pretty photos (he showed me one and it was indeed very pretty).
He couldn't remember exactly where it was, but he said it was a few blocks away on Northern Blvd (East of Leonards)...I haven't had a chance to scope it out, but I do plan to do so soon, so I'll keep you posted (if you scope it out first, please let me know!).
Also, a couple of miles away from Leonards is Alley Pond Park in Bayside...I haven't been there either, so again I can't tell you more.
Finally, there's the Queens Country Farm Museum...check them out too.
Keep me posted, and I'll keep you posted!

There's a small park in the Munsey Park section of Manhasset. It's about 5 minutes east of Leonards right off of Northern Blvd. There's a small pond, not sure if there's a bridge though

Re: Scenic areas near leonards?
Thanks AHimar24 for that info...I did a quick search on google and here's what I found:
Here's what the website says: 'Manhasset Valley Park has walkways for strolling, a small playground area and a ballfield.
Manhasset Valley Park Located at Northern Blvd and Community Drive
A 27-acre park with a pretty pond and creek, Manhasset Valley Park provides a pleasant setting for a stroll. There is also a small playground for toddlers and a baseball field that is used by the local little league. Manhasset Valley is one of several County properties that were orginally designed for drainage purposes and were later turned into public parks.
As of September 10, 2007, the Town of North Hempstead assumed the management of this park under an agreement with the County, as the first step toward the eventual transfer of the property from the County to the Town. The park will remain open to County residents. Any questions about this park should be referred to the Town (869-6311).'
And here's the photo on that webpage, which shows the bridge the photographer had shown me!

Maybe your photog was talking about the park right across from Macy's in Manhasset? I've seen lots of brides there and theres a little wooden bridge..its pretty. Don't know the name of the park though...

Re: Scenic areas near leonards?
I live in Great Neck, and can tell you that there are a TON of parks you can go to. The park I think your photog is referring to does have some nice spots for pics, although from 25A it doesn't look like much. but give it a chance that little bridege IS very pretty. If you wanted to go a little further, you can try Steppingstone park which is almost in King's Park, but is absolutley beautiful and on the water. i realize it will be December, but I've gone on walks there in the winter and pretty much always see a bride taking pics! There is also a large mansion on the property that would be beautiful. Also, here is the Great NEck park site http://greatneckparks.org/ it might help you out!

You might also consider taking some pictures at the US Merchant Marine Academy in Great Neck. Usually during the week you need to be someone's guest, but I'm pretty sure on the weekends, it's open to the public. The security guard will still probably stop you and write down your license plate #, but it's a beautiful campus and not too far from Leonards.
