Seamstress in Queens/Nassau needed!

My dress is from Jessica Mcclintock and they don't do alterations. Can anyone recommend a seamstresses in Queens/Nassau that is good and affordable? I basically need the length shortened and a few minor things.

Well, actually no, not yet. I am just thinking way ahead! I am going to try 'the one' on 2 more times and show it to a friend and my FSIL. I am planning on ordering it in a couple of weeks. I have anxiety about ordering it though, and one of the reasons is that I want to make sure it is altered perfectly and that I find a good corset. Thanks for remembering and I'll keep you posted!!

I just spoke with Karin and she sounds really great. Her web site is good too. Did you use her? She quoted me an average of $80 for alterations for a dress like mine (only length, no train, no design on hem) and $40 for her corset (which she said are from Europe). I am definitely going to make an appt w/ her.

Seamstress in Queens/Nassau needed!

You can try Beautiful Bride in Lynbrook-even if you don't buy the dress there, I'm pretty sure they do alterations. I'm getting a bridesmaid dress altered there (didn't get it there) for $50.00.

Yes, Karin did my alterations and she did a fabulous job!! I spent $180 total. That was for the hem (she had to remove and lower the entire thing - I'm 5'11!), she took out the shoulders and sleeves and took in the waist and back!! Oh, plus she did a 3-point french bustle for me (I used strings, not buttons) @ $10 a point! Wonderful personality, too. Tell her I said hi!! She got married 2 weeks before me! :)
