This is my first post here although i have been following for a while. I am still searching for a perfect venue and feel as though I am running out of time since I am trying to plan for next sept. Already saw East Wind, Swan Club, CHCC, Windows on the Lake, Russos on the Bay..none were 'the One'..
Going to see Thatched cottage this weekend...any thoughts for those who have seen it? I havent been able to find many good pictures...
Any other suggestions would be great! I am looking for 1 wedding at a time, somewhere with pretty outside space, either gardens or water, for about 150 people and not over $150 (tax/tip included) for sat night.
Thanks for the help in advance :)

What are the minimums at OFC?
If I remember correctly I *think* the minimum was 100 on a Friday or Sunday and 120 on a Saturday.

I think you will love the thatched cottage (I am a little bias though). It has all the aspects that you are looking for. The pics on their website do them no justice. Try searching in brides review to see pic. If you have any questions feel free to fm

Check out Giorgio's! It's beautiful... pics in my album. Feel free to FM me if you have any questions!
ETA: I saw that you want to get married next Sept. I'm not saying that everything you're looking for is completely booked, but we were looking in May/June for Sept 2011 and we were VERY limited. Again, FM me if you have any questions and good luck!!

i, too, was getting anxious to find a venue, and ended up booking mine 10 months out. for some venues, it worked in our favor - a couple places said they could give us a better rate since it was within a year and the date had not yet been booked (the further out it is, the more of an opportunity they have to book it; thus, the higher costs). so you can always try and play that card when it comes to negotiating.
as far as a place not having your date... i can relate to that, too. i wanted a saturday night in july. the place i REALLY wanted (and ended up booking) had no more sat nights available, so instead of finding a different venue, i just opted for a sunday night. just something to consider...

Something to think about - you may not be able to get the date or day of the week you want, but being that it is sooner and RH's want to book up as much as they can you may be able to get a good deall $$ wise if you are flexible. I would say find an RH, fall in love with the place and then find a way (or day) to make it happen!

Re: Searching for perfect venue...
When I was searching Majestic Gardens was around $120 I think, but they had about 3 different menu options. We chose The Vineyards, they cost a lot less, and it was more comparable to MG's 2nd package. Check out Wedding Sites and Services I actually bought the book and narrowed it down that way.
