Seating chart question
Who does the seating chart for a wedding?I've always been under the assumption that it's the Bride & Groom's job.
My Mother thinks it's HER job to seat 'her' guests where she wants them to be seated.
I thought the parents tell the bride & groom who they want to sit with and then the bride & groom do the rest.

Seating chart question
I had a conversation with my mother about it. I told her flat out that I want our family friends sitting at the first table with her and my father - NOT my aunts and uncles (I barely see them and to be honest, I don't care if they attend my wedding since we've always been the 'black sheep' part of the family). She was ok with it, but did ask that certain people be together. Definitely the bride and groom's job to make the chart, but a little help from mom might make you less stressed lol.

Seating chart question
I think its bride and grooms job. However parents especially mothers (I know mine will) have an opinion of who she wants where and why. To be honest like other girls said it may just be easier. Personally id rather not deal with her complaining if its not who she wants. Lol

Seating chart question
I agree it's the Bride & Grooms job, one I'm not neccessarily looking forward to...lol Your mom's help may lessen your aggrivation with this often stressful task, however, that all depends on your mother's intentions and attitude towards it. She should be lessening your stress, not adding to it. I'd let her know that early on and only proceed with her help if she agrees to your terms (ie: letting you have the final say, etc.).PS: I caught my mom calling it 'her' wedding the other day.

Seating chart question
I farmed everything out to make my life easier. I did our friends, mom did our family, with my help, his mom did hers and his dad did his. Made my life easier, could care less so was with who as long as their butt had a seat!

Re: Seating chart question
Ultimately we are doing it but we definitely had some suggestions from parents. It was frustrating until I took my parents to the final menu planning meeting to show them that my venue actually does fit 12 people at a table so stop worrying about it and I will figure it out just fine haha :)

Seating chart question
my mom has her input of who she wants to sit by. already. lol. so does FW's mom.the other day, my boss and coworker were talking about who they didnt want to sit by and said 'bring in the seating chart for the office people and we will do it' f that! it's hard enough for them to do it here when we rearrange desks! LOL
I know we will have a lot of pressure from outside sources, but FW and I will be the sole possesors of the chart-- and people can come to us with quick & to the point suggestions.
and... this will all change in august / sept im sure.

Seating chart question
Thanks for your feedback! I really appreciate it!I was so annoyed & frustrated last night bc we aren't even up to seating yet & I got a Facebook message from my adult cousin asking for her & her sister to not be sat with their brother-if he comes. (They are having legit problems with him, that i totally understand)... but I just found that to be so nervy, I didn't even respond back to the message. My mother went on to say that she was going to do the seating chart for 'her' guests and I exploded!

I have a general idea on where & who I want to put together. Sure the parent can fine tune/approve it, but my fiancé & I planned to do it ourselves.
Again, thank you everyone for your help!

Re: Seating chart question
I did it all, but I also know my parents friends very well so I knew who went where. I just had to have my Mom split up one table (it was 18 total people). She will help with where the actual tables go in the room.

This exactly! Im letting my parents choose who is at their table the rest is up to me. I will ask for my parents advice on certain people and family members ect. HTH

Seating chart question
It's your job and if people have a problem with where they are seated, too bad so sad.I had one couple visibly annoyed that they were not at a table w/ their friends. Well when you respond two weeks AFTER the RSVP date, you get put wherever there is room!!

Re: Seating chart question
I think it's the Bride & Groom's job. I also think it depends who is paying for the wedding, if your parents are paying for a big part of it then I can see them wanting more of a say in the seating chart. Personally we are doing our own seating chart but plan to ask our parents for their opinion on where to place certain family members.
