so ive been going back and forth over whether or not i should do seating for my e-party next month..it will be small (around 40-45 people), but its really only close friends and family, and not many of them know each other across the board
what do you think?

Re: seating for e-party?
I didn't. It was so much easier and more relaxed without it, which is exactly what I wanted. My mom sat at a table with his friends, my dad sat with his friends (they're divorced), FH's parents sat with their friends. FH and I sat with our bridal party.
It's funny how it all worked out b/c even though I didn't do assigned seating, everyone ended up sitting with people that I would have assigned them to if I did.

I didn't either we had about 100 people and everyone just mixed and mingled. Everyone had a good time and were all over the place talking to one another. I think if you are going for more of a sit down vibe, then go for it. We did more of a relaxed cockatil party so we didn't feel the need too

Re: seating for e-party?
we didnt. we had about 60 people, and keep in mind FMIL and FFIL arent on the best terms, and even with open seating everything went surprisingly well

No assigned seating though we did have more seats available than people. The ICP set the area up perfectly!!

Re: seating for e-party?
we didn't.. but if i could go back i probably would do it. we had around 60 family members. FH's parents are divorced so it became a little sticky at one point because we had to move chairs to certain tables to have the people on his mom's side of the family sit with everyone on his mom's side, and the people on his dad's side sit w/ their fam. members.

Re: seating for e-party?
ya im just worried bc fh's grandma and grandpa are divorced bc of 'another woman', whom he is still with 20 years later, and she will there as well, which does NOT make grandma happy lol

Re: seating for e-party?
Hmm I say just have open seating. If there's a small number of people going, they'll probably be able to figure out who to stay away from/who to sit near.
I had a Grad Party in January (about 70 people) and did place cards for this same reason (so that people who didn't know anyone would be together and such), and everyone wound up switching seats anyway.

Re: seating for e-party?
We are having a backyard E-Party and we won't be doing assigned seating because it is a more relaxed atmosphere, plus, we want everyone to mingle and sit whereever

Re: seating for e-party?
Ours was 2 weeks ago and we did a seating chart. I felt it worked out great and did not prevent people from mingling. As a guest, I prefer to know my seat rather than to end up at a table where I don't know anyone.

Re: seating for e-party?
We had about 50 people. The problem with us was that we are friends with a lot of close crews and being that everyone always shows up late we did the assigned seating. This way someone doesn't sit in the middle and the 10 people from one crew have to sit around that person. It worked out great cause everyone sat with people they knew and we had a separate table for family (who all get along).
