Re: Second Baby Shower? Tacky?
yes i think you had one already. my friend had one with her 2nd baby b/c she didn't have one with her first, still have mixed feelings on that one.
something even tackier..i know someone who just had their 4th baby. she wanted all new stuff for her 4th BOY so they gave her another one.

Re: Second Baby Shower? Tacky?
Ive seen cases where there are like 5+ years between children so a second baby shower is done, since the mother probably doesnt have anything left from the first child.
Maybe it doesnt have to be a full on baby shower? Does she want to register again?

Re: Second Baby Shower? Tacky?
i think the option of having maybe a small one is nice- some people are traditional where as some aren't and they have much more
btw I knew someone who had 4

Re: Second Baby Shower? Tacky?
if there's a larger age gap between the 2 babies, like 5+ years, then i think it's appropriate, esp since you will most likely not hold onto a diaper genie for 5 years. if they're like 2 years apart, i think it's unneccessary, but a nice small party would be fine.
my step sister is pregnant w/ child #4 - her youngest right now is 8, so i'm really hoping she has a baby shower.

Re: Second Baby Shower? Tacky?
If its her second boy in a short time frame, I think its tacky.
My Mom had 2 showers - one for my sister (the oldest) and one for my younger brother - but, those showers were 8 years apart, (can we say oops? ), he was the first boy, and it was a small one at her friend's house.
I think it depends a lot on the situation.

Yes. I think if u already had a baby shower and your having the same sex again you don't need to have another shower. If the baby was a girl i could see having another shower.

I completely agree with you! It all depends on the gap between children!

in other parts of the country thay have them for every child.
I was astounded to find that in this area people are capped at one!
but once you have the first child what else do you need besides clothing?
my nephew is coming in April and there will be no shower, his sister is two years old. . .
family and close friends will get her some clothes but she has everything from the first baby of course
ETA: i agree with a 5+ age gap

Re: Second Baby Shower? Tacky?
I think a 'sprinkle' is great but a full shower might be a bit much .....I had two boys 20 months apart and I needed all new stuff for the 2nd one one was summer one was winter and they were 3 inches and 3 pounds different which doesnt seem like much but its alot in baby sizes...

If I had a baby and it was a boy and I had a girl like 5 years later, yes, I would want a shower...small one..not a big one...just cause I would need stuff for the girl. JMO

Re: Second Baby Shower? Tacky?
I think it depends on the age difference between the babies. If its a substantial amount of time then its not so bad, but if they are close in age I think its tacky.

In Kansas there is a shower for every child regardless of sex or age difference. I have been to showers that celebrate the new life and family member with minimal gift giving and basic things purchased like bottles etc.
I think a lot of northeastern traditions are stingy and weird.
In the midwest showers are typically thrown in a family members home, as well as confirmations, christenings and baptismal celebrations. It is never a costly affair.
tell us how you really feel LOL i think that the NW traditions are different bc we have bigger affairs - at a hall with decorations, favors etc. so to have that more than once OR to pay for a big shower and then have another even if its smaller, in a few years - it would just be too expensive
Also, even though my nephew is not getting a baby shower he will have a big baptism party in just a few months! So it is a lot of stuff all at once for the family to pay for.
