Second Guessing My Dress Choice, Help so confused with pics and poll
Original post by TheFutureMrsM
Everyone be honest with me please The dress i bought is amazing, i love it, but i am realizing that the reason it is Baggy on the model is because that is how its supposed to be. I tried on the models dress and it was tight, a size 6 altered to a 4, So the pic of my in the dress i could hardly breath. My dress will be a size 8. So it will be baggy so i can sit and move around without a problem. I could not sit and barely walk in the sample dress. That being said. I think i am changing my mind. I dont know if i will be happy with the dress when it comes in and it is loose like the models.
There is another dress i really loved as well. Its not a full dropped waist. But its more tight fitting because it does not go under my butt. In the model picture you can see how fitted it looks, and that is how it fit me. And the ballgown was poofy.
What should i do, keep this dress or change my order to the other one? Here are pics and a poll so you can compare.
I dont even want to tell FH, because he is so happy, and i was happy, never in my life did i think he would buy me such an expensive dress but he really loves me and wants me to sooo happy. But he can tell something is wrong, and that im upset but i keep telling him that i am ok.
See how baggy the dress is, that is how it will fit me when it comes in my size. Can i live with that. If its to tight i cant sit or walk in it.
Here is me in the dress, look how the fabric is loose, and that is with the dress skin tight that i could barely breath. Imagine how it is in my size.
Here is the 2nd dress i was contemplating buying, because the bodice is nice and fitted. Also this dress is the same exact material, and color as the original dress.
Thanks Guys so much, I appreciate ALL ADVICE GOOD BAD AND UGLY!!!!!

I love the 2nd one, its a little more ballgown than i thought i wanted, but i feel like a princess in it. and i think its a great match, i get that dropped waist look and get to feel like a princess
I LOVE dress #2. I love both of them! But it seems like you might feel better about yourself in #2. Go with whatever makes you feel best.
Why did you choose #1 over #2 in the first place? What made you decide on it?

i think they are both very pretty. and you do look beatiful in it! But i do love #2 best. You have a beautiful figure and i dont think #1 flatters it, the second one i think will flatter your figure best. the upper part (the tighter area) on the 2nd dress is more at your waist line. The mermaid style doesnt give you as nice of a shape as you could flaunt!

OK you know what is funny Nicole, the 2nd dress i had seen this past week on KP's site, and was gonna show it to you since it is similar to what you like but decided not to bc didn't want to confused you more lol
BUT here is what i think, go back tomorrow to the store, and do it soon so you don't have any problems changing your order if you decide to do so. If the first one is so tight you can barely walk or sit then don't do that to yourself, you don't want to be uncomfortable the night of your wedding, you wanna dance, move around, sit and eat freely and not feel constrained. Talk to the people at the store and ask if its meant to be a bit baggy, by the way the dress is cut and how it looks on the model, that just might be the style. What size was the sample and what size did you order it?
If you find out it is not meant to be a form fitting dress then go with the 2nd dress which would be alot more comfortable on you. Also bc the way the 2nd dress is cut, see how the top is and then the beading right under in the first one the beading goes down a little but the 2nd dress, it goes straight across so it will come tight right underneath your breast and then the fabric on your stomach can lay perfectly instead of baggy. So as of now I think the 2nd dress might be a better choice.

I really like the dress on you.....A LOT.... But I like how it looks Tight. Now if you cant sit in it., its a big problem.... But you had your heart set on this style right? Were other dresses baggy?

I like your first choice but on the model honestly it looks a little too baggy, I think if you have it just a little tighter than the model's fit it will look nice. Although I voted for the 2nd dress choice because I think it's just GORGEOUS!!!!

Hey Nicole...we've been friends for a while and since I'm at work and can't IM you, I'll post here. You know that I think that #1 is too baggy.......#2 is pretty, but from one friend to another, it doesn't have anything flashy about it. Not that I'm saying you need over-the-top flash and glamour and glitz...but from how you described you imagined your dress, #2 doesn't look like it either. I know you want honest opinions so here I go.....go look at different designers..forget Kenneth Pool. He has great dresses, but I don' t think they are all that great in the style you are looking for. I think it was a Lazaro you tried on....with lace overlay.....now I think that that one looks amazing on you. Try different designers and avoid KP....what do you think???

your right, that dress is too baggy. not good at all, i had my heart set on it. the 2nd dress is not over top or flashy like i had thought i wanted, but it fits amazing and is very tight on top with that slight dropped waist. I think i need to try it on again and maybe a few others as well.
Another thing is, i dont want to get something to trendy and then in 10 years go omg what was i thinking. My e-ring is very simple and traditional so thats why im thinking the satin look may be good for me. i duno i am so confused thanks for the advice, it looks like i am going to forget about the baggy dress and focus on something else

hmmm i don't know i think the 2nd KP dress is more flashy than the lace...lace is gorgeous and depending what you are looking for in style it goes perfect but if you want flashy then its dutchess satin you go for and beading. Lace is more of a soft romantic look
Also don't think you need to go too crazy with the beading, if the beading overwhelms the dress then it is too much and like i said to MPAS you get lost in the dress, you want to wear the dress not the dress wear you. I think its also more elegant and sophisticated. Plus im sure as you know since you tried the dresses on, in person they look so different and alot more blingy than in the pictures...You can't see how much those crystals spark in the pictures and the work on them.

Yea the 2nd dress is definately flashing cause of that satin and the beading is gorgeous, its not to much that it overwhelmes the dress or me, i think it compliments me perfectly
what i meant by an over the top flashy dress was this dress, i really thought i wanted something like this, but i realize i want to keep it less trendy

yeah i dont think the 2nd dress is too flashy, i think it has the right amount of details on it and it has more of an elegant look, it also has more of a wow factor bc of how it comes out so it doesn't need to be too flashy.
I agree with sticking with something less trendy. I love the 2nd dress more than the one you just posted too.

oh yea, this dress just had way to much going on, i love the 2nd one way more than i ever liked this one,
I am just so mad they are not open today, so i have to sit here all day and wonder about it, and i am guessing they sent the dresses back saturday with the Rep, so when i call tuesday i am sure they wont even be there. But i would think they can request the dress back to the store, lets hope!

were you there late on saturday, that is what happened to me bc they were closed on Monday, i waited until early tuesday morning and the order had not been sent out yet so honestly don't worry about that they still can change the order, i mean regardless not like they started making the dress already.

Would you reconsider that lace dress you have a pic of you in?

Honestly..... I don't like the style of both dresses but thats just my personal opinion. I think the reason it looks baggy on the model is because she doesn't have a booty to fill it (hehe) I think if you are not comfortable walking around in the dress, which you will be doing all day, don't get it.

Ok i know why I don't like it. I don't like how it clearly is separating your body into three parts. I like the look of the lacy Lazaro dress you tried on (i think its the third in your album). I think someone already asked if you would reconsider this one. I like how it flows and doesn't draw so much attention to certain spots....

everyone i showed that lace one too said i look like a spanish senorita, no one liked it, only alot of people on LIW lol. I dont think i wanted lace, and i dont look good in A-line, and i wanted to stay away from traditional ballgowns, i have a long torso so dropped waist looks good on me
I will agree i love that lace lazaro gown alot, its really gorgeous, but alot of my close family did not like it.

the lace dress is pretty and does look great on you, doesn't have too much of a bling type factor going on, the details on the top of the dress is just a little and doesn't look like it stands out that much, not sure how it looks in person. It's nice but doesn't seem to be the look you are going for.

You know what? You should go alone. By yourself. Try on some dresses. Sometimes I think getting everyone's opinion (family, us on LIW, etc.) only confuses people and makes us second guess ourselves.
You have a vision of what you want to look like on your wedding day. Sometimes your family or friends have a totally different vision. You know the style you want and the look you're going for. Don't let anyone (family or us!) get in the way of you picking what you want!
