See now this is how it's supposed to be done...

Original post by FutureJOC

I just got an invitation for our friend's wedding in October. I immediately took out the RSVP card, checked off yes, selected our meals, and mailed it out today.

See how easy that was? Now let's hope our guests can do the same for us!

no it's not common, but it is an option if you already know the menu and it's finalized. Plus this wedding is in CT so I'm not sure if things are done differently at the venues there.

i think we brides-to-be are the more aware of how important it is to send back answers right away!

see I was always the type to send back the RSVP cards as soon as possible but I think now that I am a bride to be I realize how important it is and how time consuming it can be if you don't get the responses on time and have to make phone calls and track people down. It really slows up the process to get everything else that has to be done the few weeks before the wedding like place cards, seating charts, etc.

It really does affect all the end planning like that!! my friend is getting married and on her RSVP date she was still short about 50 rsvp cards, which is like 100 people!! nuts!! so now shes hunting everyone down... so annoying and rude!

Hmmmm I'm trying to think back...but I don't think I have ever gotten a wedding invite with menu options on the RSVP card before. I hate to say it for fear of sounding lame...but I've never even heard of doing this before

Kudos to you for being a great wedding guest and sending out that RSVP right away

To my knowledge its usually done when there is a different price per meal.. At the GCH for example, you pay one price for chicken, then another for steak and even higher for lobster.. A few of my friends in RI and upstate NY did it on their invites and had said the price they paid per person varied with the meal chosen!

hmmm never knew that. It makes sense though!

i don't understand why everyoen can't just send them back quickly. you have to know if your going to be available that date and you knew the wedding was coming. if they are important enough to you that you are invited just send the rsvp back

I get how important these things are now that I'm a bride...unfortunately I don't think that the RSVP gods will be on my side....lol. I was never too speedy with my responses to other weddings....ahhh!!!

Re: See now this is how it's supposed to be done...

I have to confess, with my self diagnosed ADD, I'm the retard that'll be doing 2984049832 other things while I'm scanning the mail, forget to open the invite since I know what it is and tell myself I'll do it later, and then forget I got it

Also with school and internships and stuff I didn't always know ahead of time if I could go... I always had to wait til things got a little closer to be able to make the decision... and add that to the above process.

So, me, I'm the person that sends the RSVP back late. Sorry!!
