Seeing each other before the ceremony

How does everyone feel about seeing their FH before the wedding ceremony? I always thought it was bad luck but I know a lot of people are doing it now. If i get married at the venue the only time to really do pictures would be before the ceremony because we want to enjoy our cocktail hour and say hi to everyone. I'm just curious to see how people feel about it. Thanks

Seeing each other before the ceremony

FH and I live together and I am ALWAYS stressed and anxious... I think seeing eachother before will help to relax both of us and allow us the energy to reall focus on everything and enjoy everyones company

Seeing each other before the ceremony

Personally it is not for me. I am tradtitional in many ways and have always dreamed of that moment of FH seeing me for the first time as I walk down the aisle. I have seen so many nice pictures from reveals and if that moment isn't too important to you then I say go for it!

Seeing each other before the ceremony

I'm way too superstitious to see FH before the wedding. I think it's cute and I love the pictures, but it's not for me.

Seeing each other before the ceremony

I'm very pro-reveal! We're doing one, I personally think reveal pictures are adorable and we both want to have all of our pictures done so we can eat the yummy food at the cocktail hour that we're paying for and enjoy ourselves lol. If we were getting married in a church and had time in between then maybe we would do it differently but were getting married at our RH and I don't think the one hour would be enough time anyway (I want a lot of different poses)

Seeing each other before the ceremony

I'm superstitious that's why I almost don't want to do it- but I love the reveal pictures and I want to enjoy the cocktail hour- an hour for all the pictures just isn't going to be ideal. Plus, my FH is very emotional especially when it comes to me. He said he's gonna be crying the whole time lol and said seeing me before will calm him down.I'm really torn with the whole thing but the only way that wouldn't happen is if we got married at the Church hours before getting to the venue.

Seeing each other before the ceremony

When we were considering holding our ceremony at the venue, I was very pro seeing each other before it for picture purposes. FH was adamantly against it, though, and never seemed to warm up to the idea.

Now that we are holding our ceremony at the church and will have sufficient time between to take photos, we will not be doing a firs look. I imagine FH must be relieved!

Seeing each other before the ceremony

Ha! I'm PRETTY sure that the reason behind this is back when marriages were arranged, they didn't show the groom the bride so he wouldn't have time to back out and run!!

It's not going to bring you bad luck, but it is a choice you have to make! If you want to wait you wait, if you don't you don't. Don't let superstitions make your decisions!!

We're doing a first look b/c we want to enjoy cocktail hour with our friends and family, plus the first look pictures always make me smile hard!!

Re: Seeing each other before the ceremony

I agree..I'm traditional as well when it comes to that, and I wouldn't want to see my FH until we see each other at church..I want to see the glisten in his eyes when he sees me, as I start tearing from seeing him lol

Seeing each other before the ceremony

I'm seeing FH before the ceremony. We're having our ceremony at the venue instead of a church and I want to go to the cocktail hour and get some of the meeting and greeting out of the way plus I'm having a cigar roller for the cocktail hour that I want FH to be able to enjoy. Also I like that I'll get to see him before because we really do tend to calm each other down, he especially looks to me as a calming influence and I know he'll be overwhelmed by all the people we'll have to see and the pictures so I'm glad we'll have a beautiful moment where he sees me for the first time but then we'll get to get our pictures done and enjoy the rest of our wedding together. It's all a matter of personal preference though and you have to just look at everything and figure out what works for you.

Seeing each other before the ceremony

Hmmm, I'm not sure what I want to do yet. FH is fine with whatever I choose. We're getting married at the RH so if I don't want to see him before the ceremony then we would have to take pictures during the cocktail hour which may rush the picture taking process. I have always loved the idea of my FH seeing me for the first time as I walk down the aisle, but I also want to take advantage of the cocktail hour. I'm also torn about what to do.

Re: Seeing each other before the ceremony

This is exactly how I feel. I want to go around say hello to everyone during my cocktail hour so we can enjoy the rest of the time but if we have to do pictures I feel like they're going to be rushed!

Seeing each other before the ceremony

We are doing a reveal shot. We want to enjoy our cocktail hour and don't want to miss any of our wedding. We also love that we get to have a moment together before the ceremony.

Seeing each other before the ceremony

FH and I have both agreed that we do NOT want to see each other that day, as we are both SO excited about the moment I walk down the aisle towards him. It's a moment that is really important to us both. With that being said, I understand that it works on the day of for pictures and I do think the reveal is really cute... I think it should just be your preference.

Exactly this. At first I was sad about having him see me before I walk down the aisle, but the more I think about it, the more pro-reveal I am. The day is going to go by fast enough and I don't want to miss any part of the reception taking all of my pictures!

Seeing each other before the ceremony

Our ceremony is at our church so we will not be doing a reveal. I like the idea of him seeing me for the first time walking down that isle! I am super excited!
