yes, register first. they have an extensive help area which can answer most of your questions, but i'll try first.

fine print? depends on the item. if it's show/sports tix i'd check first, but if it's a toy or something probably nothing to worry about.

listing fee varies depending on where you start the bidding. for most of my stuff it's been less than $2 to list.

they give you times to choose from, i think 3 days, 7 days or 10 days.

you can set a reserve price. this means that you don't have to accept the winning bid if it is below this price. so say you are desperate to recover what you paid then you can set your reserve at that price and if the highest bidder didn't go above it you can auction it again. but if it does go higher you have to take it even if you really wanted more.
