Semi-disastrous final fitting - need your advice!

Semi-disastrous final fitting - need your advice!

So last night was my final fitting. My MOH came with me but she missed my 2nd fitting which was where I started to get the sinking feeling that my veils did not match my gown and that they weren't the right length. The girl there said everything was fine but I suppose she was just anxious to get me out of the dress and free up the dressing room -- seemed that way anyway.

So this time, my MOH confirms it for me. The veil does not match my gown. My gown is silk white and the veil is so stark white it can't be passed off. I'm an idiot. I don't know why I didn't question it when, whenever I asked BR for a veil to try on with my gown, they always brought me an ivory one. Also, I realize that I really like the way a fingertip looks way better than an elbow length which is what I have.

So now I have 2 1/2 weeks to go and I have to get all new veils... that's not even the worst part for me... I can deal with that little hurdle... the money is what's making me sick.
BR wants $300 for the veils I want. And I KNOW those match my gown perfectly and I love the way they fall and everything. I think I rather just fork over the cash to them than go crazy now trying to find a veil that matches.

Let me ask a question -- is there a such thing as a veil made out of 'SILK TULLE' or are they just trying to RIP ME OFF???

Also, I'm still having NO luck with the jewelry. The necklace I bought yesterday at Nordstrom's wasn't right. I don't know what to do about the jewelry!

I was fine... NOW I'm starting to get stressed.

there are veils made of silk tulle -that is what bethsair had- they feel nicer then the nylon veils

OK. where did you get the original veils from? can you return them to that store? i mean exchange them, maybe they will just charge you for a rush? About your jewelry. what does your dress look like? can you post a pic?

Dont worry! we'll figure something out!!!

post a pic!

Sorry you're going through this

Only you know your $ situation - I spent a lot on my veil but that's because I truly loved it and I did wear my veil all night. Are you going to wear yours all night?

Maybe you should take one day and check out some other less expensive veils - if you don't like them then get the one you love.

There are also tons of places online (glamourgal.com, ebay, etc) with veils. Maybe you can find something.

Good luck!

Calm down. Veil problems with two weeks to go, unlike other problems, can be fixed. I have read on this board that there are two people (in recent reviews) who you should talk to --
LauraPete mentioned Nelson D'Leon as her veil hero and I believe someone else mentioned another vendor who is married to someone who does invites who does veils at a very reasonable cost and very quickly.

From what i know there is silk tulle but most veils are regular tulle. if you are only getting the fingertip veil plain with no edging and no beading on it. it should not come to 300$ that is crazy since tulle is actually .50 cents per yard????? get a swatch of your gown and go to tri county it doesnt hurt right???? if you dont want to bother then just fork over the $$$

this is the quote from Bethsair on her silk tulle veil - they do exist and are nicer but cost more

'Silk Veil- I really didn’t like the poofiness of veils, I knew I didn’t want a synthetic veil, I wanted the real thing. So I researched for months and got one of my most treasured items. My biggest thrill was when it flew around and landed over my face and created a whole mess on my head, LOL, I heard someone whisper, “It did that because that’s a REAL veil” I was so excited. It was created by www.sewdeb.com and the silk was purchased from http://www.hansson-silks.co.uk/ I found that this was the best route to go through. I got lots of samples from many different places. I felt the US was not up to the standard that the UK silk tulle was but the Australian and UK bridal shops cost an arm and a leg. The best option was to order about 3 or 4 yards from Hanson’s and then ship it off to sew deb. They were very easy to deal with, charged it right to my credit card. Sewdeb charged me 25 dollars I think. AMAZING! '

I'm not sure you have time to go the route Beth did.

Barrons can makeyou one quicklybut Idon't thinkthey have silk. The should have different shades of white though.

I probablywould fork of the cash, just to have it done with, but it would be easier if you could return or sell the firsts ones.

Where did you get them?

I do plan to wear my veil all night. I don't think I have the time, energy or the nerves to go deal with exchanging my veils, then going back and trying them on with my gown, see if they match, see if I like the way they fall, etc etc.

I guess I want to know if I can get the EXACT same veils they have at Bridal Reflections for less somewhere else. That's why I asked about silk tulle.

I got my veils at Barron's in Tri-county so they were custom made. They are beautiful, they just don't match and I want a fingertip length now. I don't know what they would do as far as exchanging. I was going to go find out last night but Tri-County is closed on Wednesdays.

The jewelry... well, I tried the Chandelier earrings with no necklace look, and that doesn't work. My neck needs something but it's gotta be really simple but has to match the sparkle of my tiara which is very sparkly. I found a necklace that matched the shape of the neckline perfectly but it STILL didn't look right. Don't know why, it just didn't.

Do you girls think a solitaire CZ necklace would work?

Here's me in the dress... blurry but you get the idea and you can see the tiara and neckline. And that is pretty much how I am wearing my hair.

I didn't think my post sounded that frantic, I'm really not freaking out, just a little stressed about it because I didn't need to spend more money right now. Like I said, the veil hurdle itself isn't a big deal to me... just the hassle of it all is like

Thanks for the recommendations.

Sorry, JB, that was not meant at all to be patronizing, I truly meant it in a friendly, reassuring way...as I would say to any friend who was stressed.
May I make this comment; I have now seen you post a couple of times on different necklaces and earrings but in every single photo I have seen of you fully dressed you look absoultely regal and magnificent -- the dress is majestic and your tiara is amazing. I think all in all, the small pieces of jewelry will not matter so much -- the overall look is amazing!

Thanks... It helps alot just to be able to discuss it with you girls. You know what though, you are right.... I guess if I keep the jewelry simple and understated, it's not going to affect the overall look much anyway, even if it's not a 'perfect' match.

Thanks for the compliment!

Have you tried a wide choker with pearls and crystals? Your dress is very 'french rennaisance' in style (JMO) and I think some kind of victorian or baroque choker style piece would do well.

Sorry I can't help with the veil issue -- I am still waiting to see if I guessed right when I bought mine last week. (Jeez I hope its close enough to work out!) Still with a $$ issue I couldn't fork over 300 for a veil that could be made for 20 bucks!

I think a plain single CZ drop on a simple chain would be plenty. You really don't need anything but if you feel naked without it, thats what I would suggest.

I don't think you need a necklace. You are wearing your hair half down, and you're leaving the veil on all night. I think you look great without one.

Good luck with the veil.

I agree. I think a 2 or 3 string pearl choker would look perfect. Or, even nothing at all! Your dress is so ornate, that it looks perfect in the pic with just the veil and tiara

Check to be sure BR can make your $300 veil in time. - They told me last night it takes 3 weeks for a plain veil, and longer for a custom order (crystals and stuff like that )

Personally, I think there's a lot going on w/ your gown and you should stick w/ a simple necklace, especially if you're wearing a chandelier earing.......I think a solitaire would look nice......

See if Barron's will exchange your veils for diamond white. If they don't have silk tulle that is. I ordered my custom veil from there and she ended up re-doing it for me for another $20....

I think you look Great! If I were you I wouldn't even wear any jewelry (necklaces at least ) with that dress- it's just so regal and amazing, you don't need anything else- it's perfect.

I love to shop, and I love to find bargains, but if I were you, I'd probably just buy the $300 veil. At this point in the game, time is money, and how much time to you have to go traipsing around looking for something that will match when you have already found one that is perfect, except for the price. There are too many other details to worry about at this point. (at least this is about the time I started to go crazy before my wedding)
As for the necklace, I'd either wear nothing, or a solitaire. Your dress and tiara are gorgeous, but both are ornate and detailed (in a very good way) that I think too much more in terms of jewelry would be overkill.
