Sending 2 sets of invitations...

Has anyone else done this?

I have a lot of family and close friends that live out of state that I don't think will be able to make it but I feel obligated to invite them first. Our family/close friend list is currently at our max number of guests which is 75.

We both belong to a chuch full of people who I know would love to come to our reception. I've set aside that second list to refer to as we get 'no's' back from our family.

I know I can't invite everyone I would like to. Has anyone every done this and is it a good thing to do? I can't figure out anything else to do. If my out of state family doesn't come, I wont meet my 75 people the venue is requiring.

Sending 2 sets of invitations...

My cousin did this. We have a large family to begin with, and our extended family from California is even larger. She knew most of them wouldn't come, but felt that she should invite them anyway. As expected, only 2 came, so then she could invite other people she wanted to invite who she knew would be able to come.

I'm probably going to do this too.

im totally doing this. just fyi- you should put an earlier than normal date as your A list date, and as late as possible for your B list date.

We are doing about 6 1/2 weeks out for the A list and 3 weeks for the B list. we will have 2 sets of RSVP cards, but the rest of the invites are the same.

Sending 2 sets of invitations...

Yup, I have an A list and a B list. When I ordered my RSVPs, I put a date of April 20th as my A list RSVP date and May 15th as my B list RSVP. So that gives me plenty of time in between to hunt people down/send out a few more invites. Honestly, I don't think I will even be hitting on a B list, but it was good for security purposes, no matter what.

If you are sending out Save The Dates--only send them out to your A list guests though.
