I have heard from several people that many reception sites are drastically lowering their costs for September 11 weddings because of the delicate nature of the date and because so many people do not want to get married on that date. I am trying to plan my 2004 wedding, and was hoping to get married in October, but we are on an extremely tight budget for approximately 150 people, and I was wondering if anyone had heard anything about this. Sept. 11 is a Saturday next year and I would love to be able to get married Saturday night, but obviously the cost is too much. Neither my fiance nor I are adamantly opposed to getting married on Sept. 11, although we are aware that some people will have something to say about it.
Putting aside any emotional or other issues that arise with the mention of that date, does anyone know of a) any specific venues that are discounting their usual prices, and b) how much they are discounting?
Thanks in advance!

Re: September 11 weddings
Congrats on your engagement and you have time to negoitate a price- I dont know what your budget is but if you research ( check out the wedding bells magazine or contemp bride of NY) they give you a listing of every catering place on Long Island and all the info you may need regarding price ranges. I believe I read that you are a lawyer- negotiate- : I have found that if I ask they will be flexible- may I suggest that you go when the high season settles down (thats like april until October they are willing to listen more to what you want as opposed to what they will give you - Good Luck

Re: September 11 weddings
Me and FI started dating on Sept 12, 1997. So when it came time to pick a date we wanted it to fall on our anniversary, which would have been 9/12/04- Sunday. We decided that we wanted a friday instead of a sunday wedding. To tell u the truth I didn't want to have our special day even falling on the weekend of Sept 11th. I do agree with everyone in not having your wedding day on such a horrible day because it will always be related to you wedding anniversary.
