SEPTEMBER 2004

Original post by WithThisRing

So far:
Church
Hall

We're going to start our vendors soon. I am waiting for Brian's work schedule and once i know his schedule I will be able to make the appointments.

I am picking up little things along the way. I have these little flower wreaths that go around the taper candles (the hall provides us with taper candles) and I have the bubbles.

I also got my grandmothers china (she passed away a week ago) so I am not going to get new china.

I am having my bridal party GTG next Saturday. My girls dont know each other and I thought this would be a good idea for everyone to meet and hang out.

We are also starting to get idea for centerpieces.

Re: SEPTEMBER 2004

Planning I dont think I would mind because I am out of work so that would keep me busy.

I just wish my mom would keep me informed of what she is doing. I always get 'i'll keep you posted'

AHHHHH!!!!!

Re: SEPTEMBER 2004

melissa I totally know what you mean about the mom 'I'll keep you posted' line - it's driving me crazy! We're stilll settling on a date having jumped from Sept to June back to Sept. Having it at my Dad's golf club, so it's his responsibility to book - how scary!! All I want is the hall and the church booked by the end of the month and the parents are giving me so much grief I almost want to elope. And we've been engaged less than a month!!!

at least I have a date - and that small sentiment gets me through the day!!!

Re: SEPTEMBER 2004

LOL...

i have a date and 2 vendors.

When we didnt have any vendors i kept having nightmares that on my wedding I would have no one taking my pictures, not video and i was crying.

so when i got my first paycheck from doing temp we started seeing vendors and booked photo and video.

Re: SEPTEMBER 2004

I have 2 vendors, church and hall, but I have so many little things. I have the throw away garter, the grooms men's gifts, things for the tables, and will be ordering the keep garter, cake topper and cake cutting set soon.

I have a dress I LOVE and will go back May 3 to try on again and leave a deposit

Re: SEPTEMBER 2004

=O I called in March to book the church and someone took my TIME AND MY DATE =((( So 2pm Ceremony (the ceremony will go to 3 - 3:30) and cocktail hour at 6. Is that too much time??? about 30 mins to reception hall from church

Re: SEPTEMBER 2004

I can't believe how much all of you have done already! We're inthe process of picking a reception/ceremony site (we're not marrying at a church - most likely, at the reception site). But we're newly engaged (2/22/03) so I don't feel *too, too* bad.

I'd like to have the reception/ceremony site booked this week...then photographer & band/dj (haven't decided yet). After that I'd like to relax for the summer - or at least do fun stuff! I have 2 appointments for May 7th - to look at wedding dresses...late summer we'll probably go BM dress shopping. Then the flowers some time early next year...then invites.

Re: SEPTEMBER 2004

WooHoo! We just booked the Hamlet Wind Watch Golf Club last night ...for September 3rd, 2004!! We're having our ceremony there as well...and booked the Seasons Grill for the cocktail hr. - so we have the entire floor for the night.

Next we're looking into bands. Yay!

It feels so 'official' now...

Re: SEPTEMBER 2004

Olga - 2.5 - 3 hours just seems a bit long, IMO. I was at a wedding that had a 2.5 hr lapse between ceremony and reception and my date and I ended up at a seedy bar with a bunch of other wedding guests. They all got smashed and then went to the reception and acted like idiots. Most people didn't notice b/c they were a small group, but if you're going to have a lapse like that you might want to put someting in the program with suggested activities for that time frame....

Re: SEPTEMBER 2004

Thanks Meghan! It *does* feel 'real' now!
...after that and the band, comes all the 'fun' stuff. I have 2 appointments on 5/7 to look at wedding dresses

I saw in your profile that you're getting married in Southampton...I went to LIU (many moons ago!). Love the Golf course there - we used to go sledding there...

Re: SEPTEMBER 2004

NYC Meghan - I Know =( The place said they will open up for cocktails at 5:30 and they can Roam the gardens if they get there early. It will take about a half hour - hour (traffic on this particular route can be brutal on Sunday that time) to get to the Reception so I don't think it is tooooo Horrible. We'll see - I hope it all works out!
