September/October or March/April

Original post by MrsSoto

Out of those months, I would definately choose September and then April as my choices...only Sept before April because Sept is usually still nice by April is very iffy.

But for prices sake, which months in order are usually better priced? For 2010, does anyone have comparison of prices for evening receptions?

And what does everyone think about best time weather wise to have it?

Thanks everyone!

Thank you everyone for you advice. Im thinking that if September and October are still very pricey, andI wouldnt really want to chance March or expecially April with the chance of rain (although Im sure all you April brides will have gorgeous weather ), I may just go for July or August which from what most people said are mid priced level.

Now thinking about it though, if I can get a really good price (not just 5pp cheaper) for the beginning of November, I might go for that.

Thanks again everyone!

We wanted to have an October wedding, but when we went to price, we found that by just moving the wedding one week into November, we saved about $15pp for a Saturday night wedding! Our RH also gave us lower pricing for a Halloween wedding, but we chose against it because FH was afraid they would use the upstairs room for a costume party, which I think was a little irrational, but I am happy with November 7, 2009!

Good luck!

I did beginning of September (Labor Day Weekend) and it was such a gorgeous day. Not too humid summer hot but still warm and sunny.

We found October to be the most expensive. Our BM actually told us that when we were looking at our hall. Also, from a Friday night to a Saturday night wedding in October, the price difference was $30 pp. And of course, future hubby was like lets just do the Sat. night in one of the most expensive months. And here come the bills....

Go with what you really want. There are ways to cut cost like having it on a Friday night rather than Saturday or cutting your list down a little bit. I read an article (I forget where) and it said your wedding is not a time to rekindle friendships with old friends so I really kept that in mind and it helped keep my list down a bit!

September weather is usually perfect...a lot of people in my family have gotten married in September (us included) and no one's ever been dissapointed. Price is probably higher though, but we saved by having ours the Sunday before Labor Day, Sunday pricing is better usually.

Yup, I agree, Im totally open and basically set on having a Friday or Sunday evening. It would be nice to cut down on the list but at around 140 expected, thats actually the cut down number already and anything more would be taking out very important people to us.
