seriously?? registry vent!

seriously?? registry vent!

honestly, what exactly is the problem with buying things that are on our registry? I am not trying to be or sound ungratefeul, and i'm sorry if i'm coming across as a complete psycho, but i am so TIRED of seeing things being added and fulfilled to my registry that i did not put there. and i know its not by accident, they are 'shower gift' items. and what really broke the camel's back was today i go on and check again and someone decided to ignore the plain coasters that i really want and registered for and bought me 2 sets of coasters with a giant E on them. Did they not think i saw those? wouldnt i have registered for them if i wanted them???? would you go and buy DIFFERENT coasters when a couple specifically registered for the ones they want?? i dont get it.

i know i sound crazy, i'm sorry, i'm just so annoyed and confused as to why i keep getting stuff i dont want and the stuff we registered for gets ignored.

I am sure they thought you'd love the personalized coasters and thought it'd be a nice touch. I understand how you feel though. You took the time to walk around and pick out what you want, why not just stick to it?

Where are you registered? BBB has a cash back policy so worse case you can simply thank the guest and return the unwanted items for the things you want!

Sorry

i just did this with a few items and for some reason i got store credit for SOME of it. i think it was one of my place settings but i didn't even ask b/c i needed to buy something anyway that i didn't get from my registry. so don't worry, as long as they put it ON your registry, you can return it no problem without the receipt! but it is still frustrating!

Hmm... well at least you can return the items you don't want or exchange them for the items that you do want.

That really $ucks. I am sorry people are doing that. I know it is supposed to be the thought that counts but really you 'thought' about what you wanted so why don't they just buy what is registered for

I understand. I'm sure people have good intentions but that would be annoying. That's why registries were invented in the first place- so your house doesn't look like hodge podge.

I know how you feel. People, its a registry, not a guideline. I picked these things for a reason!

The worst is when people buy stuff from stores other than your registry and don't even give you a receipt... we got weird candlesticks, no receipt, have no idea what brand they are or where they are from, so we are stuck with them. We also got some weird bowl that we returned because there was a gift receipt, which was annoying because we registered for stuff like that at BBB!

I got a lot of 'I bought you this instead because I didn't like anything off your registry.' Well, DH AND I registered for it for a reason and we would have liked it a lot better than the non-registry item you got us!

If it happens once its annoying- but understandable IF it is a mistake... but the 2nd time WOW I would be sooooo p issed off- esp if I knew people were doing it on purpose.... But, just remember that you can return the gifts to BBB if you dont like them.... so try not to get yourself so worked up- hey at least they got you something

I understand how you feel- FMIL's best friend called me up the day after I registered and started IMing me pictures and links of things that I did not have on my registry and DO NOT WANT ON MY REGISTRY! She said 'I don' see anything on here that I would want to buy for you'

oh and....

'why did you register for 12 everyday towels and a blanket- you need things to decorate a house with' HUHHHHH?

How do people know what you NEED?

It's annoying and rude ad I would never do it- people are just ridiculous and you don't really notice untill they get all invasive.... Argh!

Re: seriously?? registry vent!

A couple of months ago I tried to make a registry at a certain store but didn't have enough stuff (like literally I came up with 3 items I wanted totaling like 125 bucks).

So, I bought myself 2 of the items b/c I really wanted them haha and called it a day... I registered somewhere totally different and that's what went out w/ my invites.

Someone GOOGLED my name + registry, FOUND that old registry and BOUGHT that last thing I didn't buy! hahaha

The funniest part was that all 3 things were still on my registry b/c when I bought the 2 I realllly wanted I just bought them in the store- and not 'off of my registry'..

How weird is that? And I NEVER told anyone about it so it wasn't even like my mom or something...

Who does that?

I can relate!

At my grandfather's funeral (of all places) a couple of months ago, my aunt starts blabbering about how she saw these AMAZING sheets she's getting me. I just said 'I'm registered for sheets' and left it at that. I'm sure they'll still be these 'amazing sheets' because that's just how she is lol. I'm also pretty sure she won't be giving me a gift receipt so hopefully they're neutral enough that they can be used as a spare set.

EXACTLY!! I mean, not only did this happen with a few other things that got added to my registry that i didnt put on there, but then people also bought me things from entirely different stores! I mean, i dont remember asking anyone if they liked the things we registered for! WE like them.

You just prompted me to check my registries, and LOW and BEHOLD there were like 10 things on my Williams Sonoma that are backordered until late April. Swell.

Are you sure though? I only ask because I know at BBB, if you buy other items in the same transaction as a registry purchase, they will automatically show up on the registry as 'requested, 0, fulfilled, 1.' FMIL bought us our stand mixer, and a rug mat showed up on our registry. A shot glass and shaker kit that I bought myself showed up on my friend's registry when I bought things for her shower.

I thought about this too, but considering FH's last name, my soon to be last name, starts with an E, i'm pretty sure they're for us. The other things from BBB I cant be sure about, except the things my MOH actually received for us that are from different stores entirely.

I don't think you are being crazy! There is a reason for creating the registry and taking the time to put on the items that you WANT!! OMG I would be so pissed

Re: seriously?? registry vent!

Don't forget, if someone buys other things when they buy your gift, it can wind up on your registry as 'completed' item, but I do see the point with the coasters. That clearly was just a purchase of an alternative to what you chose!
