I am going to have sex on my wedding day utterly exhausted or not. I want every aspect of the day to be enjoyable. I'm not saying it would be horrible if you don't i'm just saying he listened to you while you bombarded him with limos, florists, djs etc. The least you could do is stay up for an extra hour or two and do some work.

By the time the wedding comes up, I will have listened to FH go on about tuxes, limos, must play lists, after parties, HM planning, guest lists, etc., for 14 months. He'd better stay 'up' and do some work and make it good! AND HE BETTER MAKE IT ENJOYABLE FOR ME!!! Once I'm done, I'll just roll over and go to sleep and he can take care of himself too.

This thread is so unintentionally hilarious!

As for us, I'd like it to happen, but I'm realistic. FH and I live together currently and sometimes we will both be like, 'yeah, can't wait to get home, let's do it' and by the time our heads hit the pillow we fall asleep. That's life! I'm hoping to be awake enough - generally nerves and adrenaline keep me up super late anyway so I should be OK - but if not, I don't think FH will be bringing me to divorce court the following week.

This whole response is exactly what I was thinking. Well said

I didn't BOMBARD my DH with all that... he enjoyed wedding planning and was a huge HELP.

SEX with your husband shouldn't be considered work.

WE both were exhausted at the end of the day. It was after 2am.. in our hotel room.. as I started to doze.... well lets just say- We BOTH woke up quick and possibly the people in the room next to us too!

Ladies.... THIS IS what I meant....

According to Webster's, Marriage is defined as follows: 'an act of marrying or the rite by which the married status is effected; especially the wedding ceremony and attendant festivities or formalities; an intimate or close union.' It seems to me that consummating the marriage on the wedding night solidifies the union and sets the precedent for a more loving, intimate relationship and marriage. I don't know about all of you, but I know my fiancé would feel neglected if I didn't show him how much I loved him on our special night. Of course, if for any reason, I couldn't love him on our wedding night, I'd be sure to make it special as soon as I could thereafter! I intend to only be married once in my life and I want to do everything in my power to make it right and to make it work! In my opinion, love is the key. I pray I'm NEVER too tired to express my love!

I'm an oldie but a goodie, but wanted to share. We had sex on our wedding night, and we are doing just fine. We DID have sex with other people, but still....

I'm just trying to understand, the the definition example you just posted of marriage, it states that a marriage MUST be consummated. It only states that its an intimate or close union.

Also, I notice that you and another poster made a comment about how you want to make sure you do it for your FH......but don't you have feelings about it also? So you mean that if you are utterly exhausted on the night of your wedding, and the LAST thing you want to do is have sex, you will just deal with it and do it because he says 'lets do this.'....since you state that consummating the marriage is so important, wouldn't you want the first act between the sheets as husband and wife, but something you BOTH embrace and wish to share at the same time, instead of 'Well I guess I have to.'

Sex or no sex on the wedding night does not a marriage make.....and you have the right idea about wanting to make sure you make the marriage work, but I wouldn't put so much pressure on one night, especially if you have been sexually active with your FH before that night.

Your wedding day is one of the most amazing days of your life, and its also very long and very tiring....so it is possible to love your now DH, with all your heart, and be a little too tired to express it in a physical way, it doesn't mean one doesn't care or doesn't have the right recipe for a great marriage.

OMG...you girls are out of control! And don't correct my grammar! THAT was a typo...You can make all the little laughing smilees you want... This is the exact reason I stay away from being friends with females and get along with males sooooooo much better. Abnoxious and childish! I expressed MY opinion... this IS an open discussion forum...

was your spelling of obnoxious a typo too?? Just wondering because the A and the O aren't even close to each other.

She makes a lot of typos...cause clearly the A and the O are so easy to mix up...especially since they are on the opposite sides of the keyboard!

Love can be expressed in MANY MANY ways other than having sex. I plan on showing my fh how much I love him all day long on our wedding day as I do every day.
