I know something that can make you really quit, for each stick you smoke, you cannot go shopping, if that does not work what about if you smoke we kick you out of the clan

Suzanne Congratulations! You can do it! You can also order this fake cigarrette thing that my doctor gave me. There is no nicotine or anything it just helps with wanting to smoke so you still do the inhaling but you are inhaling nothing. I can also give you a photocopy of the information book that he gave me it was great and really helpped me. Let me know because I can bring it to the get together! Just remember you can do this!!!

quit smart

Re: Shamma will be happy to know.

Why not **** mint balls or chew regular gum. Why does smoking and eating go hand in hand

Re: Shamma will be happy to know.

Have you seen a pix of your lung lately??? I found a pix of someone with a bad lung, this should scare you straight.

Doesn't chewing gum or something of a healthier choice be just as good??

Re: Shamma will be happy to know.

Congrats on quitting smoking. You are doing the right thing. I smoked for about 10 years (since I was 16). I tried to quit on and off for a while. Finally I contracted a horrible pulminary/respiratory infection that required that I be placed on STEROIDS for a couple of months! It was after that battle that I quit smoking for good. Good luck..its the best thing you can do for yourself!

p.s. Shamma IIIIICK!!! That picture would scare me silly.

Re: Shamma will be happy to know.

interesting stats:

from www.cancer.org

Nearly everyone knows that smoking can cause lung cancer, but few people realize it is also a risk factor for cancer of the mouth, voice box (larynx), bladder, kidney, pancreas, cervix, stomach, and some leukemias. More information is provided on our Cigarette Smoking and Cancer pages.

Smoking causes serious respiratory diseases such as emphysema and chronic bronchitis for up to 20% of smokers. These progressive lung diseases—grouped under the term COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)--are usually diagnosed in current or former smokers in their 60s and 70s. COPD causes chronic illness and disability and is eventually fatal. Smokers also have twice the risk of dying of heart attacks, as nonsmokers. And smoking is a major risk factor for peripheral vascular disease, a narrowing of the blood vessels that carry blood to the leg and arm muscles.

For women, there are unique risks. Women over 35 who smoke and use 'the pill' (oral contraceptives) are in a high-risk group for heart attack, stroke, and blood clots of the legs. Women who smoke are also more likely to have a miscarriage or a low birth-weight baby.

Good luck Suzanne. I know you can do it. Bring some carrot sticks to work. They helped me when I quit. Some of the other benefits besides being able to breathe, your sense of smell is better and everything you eat will taste 100 times better!
