I think it's a bad idea - there is too much Hamptons traffic (that starts waaaaaaay west of the Hamptons as it is!). I think there are other ways to 'make it up' to the Native Americans. Picking an actual NA reservation could be one, for starters.
Isn't Foxwoods closer than AC? A quick hop on the ferry...

I think they should be able to build one. Yes the traffic will be horrendous, and I would hate having to go out there to my clients, but they need something for themselves, it will bring jobs to the area, and it will bring them the money they need to build up their community.

No I don't want to take away from AC or Las Vegas! I enjoy the whole experience of those cities not just the gambling. When I think of the Hamptons, I think of lazy days at the beach or on the boat and wild nights at the bars and clubs.

Re: Shinnecock Casino - Should it be built???
my problem is with their saying they need to bring in profits for them... Ive been on the reservation... yes the houses are not the best but they arent teepees. I would bet more than 1/2 of them are out in the world earning a living.
I was also in a house on Meadow Lane in Southampton which faces the reservation on the bay side. The NA's would lay in the reeds like they were duck hunting and PURPOSLY shoot out the windows of the house across the water!!! No respect.
wow...that statement is a little generalized...don't you think?
I think its pretty selfish for us to say that they can not have the same privileges as other tribes in NYS, b/c it would cause a hassle/traffic for us...
I'm sure many NA's are working outside their reservation, b/c there might not be many opportunities for them on it...

I think it would bring in a lot of money may cause traffic but so many new yorkers go to AC and foxwoods a lot would be nice to not travel as far
