shopping Spin off- Do you hide purchases from your S/O?

Like the fact I went shopping while DH was at work. If he asks when Im wearing my new clothes if they are new, I will say yes, but if he doesnt ask, well oh well. Is this wrong of me??

It is technically my money, left over from my own paycheck not used towards anything else that I spent??

But I sure as heck am not gonna offer up to what I bought.

No, I wouldn't want to. I probably couldn't even if I tried- he knows whats in my purse collection and what isn't, and we have a joint savings/checking.

We don't have all joint money, so I don't feel guilty about what I spend that I earned, and I wouldn't feel I need to hide it. He doesn't usually notice, and I don't always tell, but it's not that I hide it.

we share 100% of our money so no, I never hide anything.

I can't hide it. I mean, I'm sure I could, but I don't like keeping things from DH.

nope, once you're married, it's not just your money anymore, spouses should be informed of all purchases

But not everyone makes all money joint money?

Yes I am afraid I do, sometimes I feel guilty, and really I shouldn't but I can't help it.

I agree. We both buy whatever we want w/ our extra spending $.

FH knows that I'm being tight w/ $$$ now --- although we don't have a joint account yet, I usually only buy things for gifts, OR if I have a gift card. Xmas and my birthday are less than 2 months apart, so I usually save all my GC for spring clothes.

eta: I don't buy much, so no, I don't hide purchases --- unless they're gifts for him!

I am usually so cheap when it comes to buying stuff for myself so FH doesnt even bat an eye at my purchases.

I definitely do. I don't know why, I guess it's the thrill of not getting caught Although eventually he figures it out when he asks 'Where did you get this???'

Exactly, us too. It is the best situation for us, because I can buy clothes, and he can play poker or softball or whatever without us feeling that each is spending more than we should, or taking away from our monthly necessities. This will probably change if we have kids and need more $ to live, but for now it works well for us.

I wouldn't say I hide it, I just don't mention it and if he does I fess up!!

FH has very few needs - he goes out for Lunch a lot more than I do, and IMO, drops too much $$$ on that, and occaisionally he just NEEDS something, like sneakers.

We'll be sneaker shopping this weekend (they MUST be Adidas, MUST have mesh, CAN'T have white.... jeez ) - he has no problem dropping $80+ on sneaks.

I got mine for $10 on clearance at Kohl's!

I have to disagree. Yes, I hide things. And this is bc my DH flips out if I buy a $20 sweater from old navy. It is the #1 source of our arguments. So, yes every now and then I will 'hide'something.
