Shopping with Mom (kinda long)
So now that I have a little time, (LOL-it took me an hour to write this) I figured i'd write about my experience this weekend. This is going to be another long vent.
I feel so bad for my mom. Since breaking her ankle over the summer, she's spent a good part of the last 3 months in a wheelchair (she couldn't handle crutches) with a cast and then boot. On Friday the doctor gave her permission to start walking again (with a cane/walker) however the dr specifically told her NO shopping. But, with less than 5 months, she really wanted to start looking for a dress. She insisted on going with out me. We talked about it and agreed that we wouldn't only go to 2 stores.
Our first stop was BE, It did NOT go well. First off she hated everything in the store. She thought the dresses were too 'old' looking (which they were). We ended up grabbing about 5 BM dresses. She was only able to try on 2 dresses Unfortunately they didn't have a chair or anything so she could sit down to put dresses on so she had to stand. Not good...she was in sooooo much pain as she attempted to get dressed. She gave up after the second dress. I felt worse since I was running around the store and didn't even offer to help her knowing that she's really stubborn and wanted to do it on her own.
Oh and i'm pretty sure I saw Ant n Tilde while I was there too but I didn't recognize her since she was wearing glasses.
The sad thing is that my mom didn't want to go to BE. I was being completely selfish When I originally tried on the dress in June it was a little snug. Since then, I've lost about 20 lbs so I really wanted to put the dress on to see if it fit. I'm really proud of myself and I know my dress will be a little big on me since I ordered a larger size. Plus I never tried it on with a veil so I wanted to see what it looked like. I wanted to compare colors from veil swatches so I can get that done as well. My mom wouldn't let me try on the dress...she said she thought it was 'silly'.
After that, my mom and i went to lunch so she could rest and we could talk.It was nice since I don't get to spend nearly as much time with her since I moved. When we were done we went to Estelles. My mom didn't really look for herself. We looked for my grandmother but didn't see anything.
But I did get to look at veils and I might have found onel!!! All I had to do was show them the swatches and mention that I was looking on veilshop which charges around $50. They told me they could sell me one of their samples for around that. Unfortunately the one I fell in love with was only one tier so they said they could add an extra tier to it for a little more $. My mom thinks I should go for it but is afraid that they will 'change' their mind since we didn't say yes while we were there.
Oh and the best news of the day! Phyllis said my dress should be in ANY day now. Hopefully this week!!!!!!! Now I have to start looking for shoes/accessories.
