My birthday was yesterday and my FH didn't come by to see me or make any plans with me. Granted, we live 1/2 hour apart and I saw him the day before my birthday but.......it still hurt that I didn't get to see him that day. Then today I find out that he went out for drinks on my birthday with his BIL
Am I being a baby or do I have a point here???!?

Re: Should I be upset with FH??
Not to upset you more, but I would be P ISSED! It's not like it was any other day, and if he could go out for drinks with someone else, there's no reason you couldn't have met somewhere in between and had drinks or dinner or something...

I would be more than P*ssed too!!!! Thats so unbelievable. Grow up!!! Your b-day is one day a year and it shouldnt even be a choice who he should be with. 1/2 hour away is nothing. Here are some

I would be pissed if he didn't come see me on my birthday and then went out for drinks, he should have been celebrating with you.

Re: Should I be upset with FH??
I would be so mad. . . . The first year me and my fh were together he went to a club with his friend instead of out with me (it was my 21st bday) Althought we were only together a few weeks and he already had plans I was so mad. . .I mean I still kinda hold it over his head cause it was a big bday and he passed me up for his scumbag friend who he doesnt even talk to anymore.

actually, i would be fuming at his inconsiderate behavior. He lives 1/2 hour away, not HOURS away, and it was your bday.
Agreed.
Vinny is really good like this- very considerate but if he EVER pulled something like that I would have his balls in a VICE!
Is he kidding?! It's your BIRTHDAY-- Maybe if you both discussed seeing each other the day before b/c it was easier with your schedule but UMM a PHONE CALL and/or EFFORT would be nice-- flowers sent to your house in his absence and I could understand if it was due to work-- not DRINKING with BIL.
ohhhh H E L L to the NO... Vinny would be on the couch for a week.
So sorry sweetie!

Re: Should I be upset with FH??
The first year we were together FH called me the day before my b/day to say happy b/day and then I told him my b/day was tomorrow. The next day he never called and I had had plans with girls. The next year he left roses and a gift on my dining room table and went out with the guys . . . came back for me later. I was FUMING both times! He has learned since, b/c birthdays were never important to him but they are to me. If he did either of those things now when we are engaged, I think I would kill him LOL j/k but I would be seriously pissed off!!!!! I think it is inconsideate!

I hate to say it but yes I would be peeved. It is not too far away to not want to spend time with you on your birthday. Not to mention if he went out for drinks.
Happy Belated

Wow. I havent read all the other replies and I want you to please take what Im going to say in the spirit of which it is given.. only to try and help you...
First.. I would be P***ssseeeddddd!!. I dont care if he had to drive 2 hours to get to you.. and spend the evening inside with a can of soup.. he shouldve done it. The fact that he doesnt show that your day is a SPECIAL day ..NOW.. while you are dating.. makes me believe he probably wont ever. Its called Selfishness. How is he on other holidays? How old is? Just curious.
I was with a man for 20 years.. never got a dam thing for any holiday.. sometimes he would run out on the day of and try to scrape something up. Or .. he would give me cash and tell me to buy something... which meant nothing since we had a joint checking account and I made most the money...LOL!! I always shrugged it off and said 'whatever'.. but I was always left hurt and disappointed. Birthdays, mothers day ( I was told im not his mom.. grrr) Valentines day, Christmas... every time.. I would hope.. but always be left down.
I am now with a man that gives me birthday WEEKS. A whole week. One gift a day for 7 days.. This year he surprised me with a Suite at Bellagio, a massage, a gift from Tiffanys'.. he took me there and told me to pick out anything I want, then a special romantic dinner. Last year we were 4,000 miles apart. He sent an E card every day , and I got a package in the mail every day. The very first day I saw him... He had presents and a birthday cake for me.
What a difference from what Ive always been 'used to'. I know it seems material... but its not. Its the fact that everything was thought about on his part . Its so important to him to make me happy.
Do you get that from your man any other times? If not.. get ready for a lifetime of disappointment.
Im sorry to go on.. I am NOT trying to make you feel bad. Im trying to point out how things could be in your future unless you demand a change from him NOW. Make him understand how much that hurt you.
God it just makes me so upset for you.
Big Big hugs... I hope he sees the error of judgment he has made.

I think thats extremely rude and selfish of him. I cant even imagine why he wouldnt drive to see you and take you out on your bday. Im sorry that he did that and you should definitly let him know how you feel
Well, he promised to take me out this weekend,etc......I dunno, it's not the same for me.....I would have really liked to see him that day......I got upset when I tried to talk about it to him earlier tonight and he told me to grow up.
WHAT! OMG See thats how men get hurt by their woman. Why don't he grow up and remember your birthday!
Sorry I had to say it. You really need to tell him how you feel .

Re: Should I be upset with FH??
so sorry that happened to you....but i have to say i don't like the way its now become a topic that is 'off-limits'. why? he did something that hurt your feelings, and made you upset, and now he picks you up for the wknd and this really hurt you and you can't express it to him and make him understand that cause its an 'off limit' topic now??????? why? because HE said so???
i'm a feisty one myself, and to be honest if DH does something to hurt my feelings and make me feeo so bad, especially on my birthday......he isn't gonna be able to BREATHE another breath until he 100% understands how much that hurt. why should your FH be off the hook?
i say this because when it comes to your emotions and feelings, NOTHING is off limit and you shouldn't be scared to tell him what you feel. i know you don't want to lose out on the 'wknd' he promised you, but i'd much rather let him understand that this type of thing is something that you won't just take politely and quietly.

Re: Should I be upset with FH??
First off, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!
Second, I would be furious! 1/2 hour is not too far esp. on such a special day. That is completely unacceptable in my eyes. He needs to make it up to u big time, I REPEAT BIG TIME!
