Should I be upset with FH??

Original post by shopaholic07

My birthday was yesterday and my FH didn't come by to see me or make any plans with me. Granted, we live 1/2 hour apart and I saw him the day before my birthday but.......it still hurt that I didn't get to see him that day. Then today I find out that he went out for drinks on my birthday with his BIL

Am I being a baby or do I have a point here???!?

I would def. be mad and hurt that he didn't make any plans to come see me. 1/2 hr is not that long of a drive.

When you saw him the day before did he give you a present?

He's picking up the tab for a pair of sandals that I ordered for our HM......and we cut a cake with his family........I don't care about getting a gift or not, I don't need him to buy me something----I could go out and get it on my own, lol. He pointed out that we had cake together the day before and 'doesn't that count?'......umm, no it doesn't when you don't spend my ACTUAL birthday with me!

I think everyone else said it all. You have every right to be upset and hurt - he was VERY inconsiderate. I mean, the day before your birthday YOU traveled all that time to be with HIS family because they were going away. And he couldn't travel a measly 30 minutes to come BE with you on your birthday? So what you were going to spend the weekend together? He didn't have any real plans for your birthday so there's no good explanation for not coming to see you. And going out with a friend for drinks instead??? SO WHAT he was honest with you and told you! How in the world does that make things better? I really don't get your friend who told you to just drop it. Really. You are entitled to feel how you feel and to get that across to him. Why should you shut it in and just feel worse inside while he gets off the hook? If you don't let him know now how you feel, this will only perpetuate this type of behavior in the future.

And I'm really not getting why this topic is off limits. Did he tell you it was off limits? Did you guys 'agree' on it since you would be together for the weekend? I honestly don't think that's a good idea. You should be able to discuss anything and everything with your FH. You shouldn't have to act like everything is ok when it's not. That's not to say that you should blow your top and scream about it or whatever, but you should be able to discuss it.

Many many and a happy birthday to you!

actually, i would be fuming at his inconsiderate behavior. He lives 1/2 hour away, not HOURS away, and it was your bday.

Agreed.

Vinny is really good like this- very considerate but if he EVER pulled something like that I would have his balls in a VICE!

Is he kidding?! It's your BIRTHDAY-- Maybe if you both discussed seeing each other the day before b/c it was easier with your schedule but UMM a PHONE CALL and/or EFFORT would be nice-- flowers sent to your house in his absence and I could understand if it was due to work-- not DRINKING with BIL.

ohhhh H E L L to the NO... Vinny would be on the couch for a week.

So sorry sweetie!

Hey there date twin.....

There was never a discussion that seeing me the day before would replace not seeing me on my birthday. He did call me first thing in the morning to wish me a happy birthday......but he didn't mention making any plans. You know what.....I would've been fine with this whole situation if he hadn't done anything either.....but if he can go out and party it up with someone else, why can't he come see me???
