Should I freak out?

Should I freak out?

I am getting married on Saturday and people are calling me to apologize because they won't be able to make due to the storm. I am scared, frustrated, and very worried. I know that I have planned this for over a year, but I didn't expect this part of it.

What should I do? Do any of you have any suggestions?

I don't have any suggestions but sorry to hear. No one plans for things like this!

i dont really have any suggestions but i guess it couldnt hurt to call your hall and see what they have to say about the hurricane. i mean its an unforseen natural disaster after all and the governor has declared a state of emergency in some parts so with that being said i would think the hall would be willing to work with you and be sympathetic to the situation and maybe lower your minimum of how many you must pay for.

other than that all you can do is keep your head up and stay positive

Don't freak out. I got married August 14th and we had the worst rain so far this summer. You've been waiting for this day your entire life and just remind yourself that rain or shine-- it will be amazing!!! If you keep a bright disposition everything will be fine. In regards to people not being able to make- it have other local people fill in or bring their sig. others if you can. Do prepare for the rain though, buy a couple of large umbrellas and schedule everything at least 30 minutes earlier than you planned. Most importantly, breathe, do not panic and enjoy every moment of your wedding. It only happens once in a lifetime. Good luck!

Don't worry it will just stress you out and you cant control the weather.

I had my wedding in January there was suppose to be a snowstorm and 22 people didn't show up and there ended up being hardly any snowfall that night. I was worried all week and now when I look back I wish I hadn't I had an amazing time at my wedding :)

We had asked when booking what would happen for inclined weather at just about all the halls we looked at had a back up plan whether it was going ahead or going with another date that was available for all vendors.

aww man! i feel so bad for you!

i cant imagine the feeling

dont freak out! 1. because you cannot control the situation AT all!

and 2. because you dont know what is going to come

it could end up being nothing! the hurricane could change paths or slow down etc.

for people to cancel NOW, is just not fair, they should wait it out

my wedding is next weekend and people have been trying to freak me out...saying you could have damage to your hall or the power could be out for a week, etc. etc. but there is no point in crying over things that havent even happened yet

just breathe!
and be prepared, have a plan B

go buy rain boots and pretty umbrellas and make the best of it!

bottom line is it will be you and FH getting married and thats all that really matters!

lots of prayers for you!

I agree with this. If it is awful, you don't want to be out, your vendors don't want to be running around,....what if the hall loses power? They might not want to risk it. Your ar in a pickle, because Saturday isn't supposed to be as bad as Sunday. But it doesn't hurt to call your vendors and ask.

You don't have wedding insurance, do you?

Re: Should I freak out?

Well, NyC already ordered all mass transit to stop running on Saturday. I think this hurricane is a sure thing.

I'm thinking these are OOT guests that were supposed to go back Sunday? I mean, if I were coming from a few hours away and had to drive back on Sunday, I'd cancel too

Exactly this!!! Hang in there - even if everyone doesn't show up, it will be an amazing day! Get some boots and umbrellas and embrace the rain, that's all you can do. I would just call your hall to make sure they're preppared in case anything comes up.

But yes

Go get cute boots and umbrellas and make the best of it. You can't control others or the weather

Re: Should I freak out?

Besides the hall, check with your vendors

You don't want them not showing up with some bad weather bit in the contract. Call photo, video, flowers, limos.....

Re: Should I freak out?

Thank you all for your great suggestions. I really appreciate it. I will go ahead and buy rain boots and umbrellas, and make the best of it.

Also, I don't have wedding insurance. My FH told me not to get it. Now I am cracking my head open for that

Re: Should I freak out?

I'm so sorry for the stress sweetie! All you can do is hope for the best and stay focused on what matters - marrying the man of your dreams! It will be a day to remember for sure! Also, I suggest all brides try to get as much coverage of their weddings as they can (that's the jounalist in me speaking). Why not call a local news station or newspaper and tell them your story?

ugh so sorry!!! Does it stink that people can't go, yes. Does it stink that you have to pay for these people, yes. But you are still going to get married!!! It will still be the hall of your dreams with the man of your dreams!!!!

Go buy pretty umbrellas and awesome rain boots. I hear it wont get rough until early early sunday so keep your head up hun.
