Should I go to my CH?

Original post by Flutterbye922

FH wants to go to the cocktail hour, I didn't want to go, but now I am rethinking for his sake.

I didn't want to go because I wanted the first time we walked into a room together as husband and wife to be at the reception. But FH really hasn't asked for anything - he is letting me make all the decisions so I feel like I should let him have this one......

What did everyone else do?

hellz yeah! FH was adamant about it. we're doing most pics before the ceremony, and the few obligatory pics afterwards.

our plan is to go to the CH and greet as many people as we can, so we can really enjoy the reception and dance, chat without feeling like we have to go around to every table. Just our thing, I know plenty of couples who don't...but if it's important to FH... Also, think about it that when you are actually marrie dis the first time they'll see you as hubby and wife, and they will still clap just as loud when you make the grand entrance!

couldn't have said it better

I'm definately going to mine for 2 reasons... To get the greetings out of the way and so that I can taste all of the delicious food that will be there!

we also decided to go to ours. it will help us make our rounds faster to then have a good time at the reception.

Since FH & I are getting married at our RH and we are taking pictures before hand. We decided that we wanted to go to our CH to chat with people and we figured that we will miss the last 10 mintues of the CH to freshen up before making our grand entrance.

I definitely want to go to our CH. I want to get a chance to start saying our hellos, and check out how everything looks.. and of course taste the wonderful food.

We're going, FH said he doesn't want to miss the food! It's all about the food for him. Plus then we can spend time with everyone and we'll have a better shot at actually seeing EVERYONE.

I'm definitely going to my cocktail hour, probably the whole thing but at least half! I want to have more time to say hello to everyone.

We are going to the CH. We are not making a 'grand' entrance. Our wedding is a small one with only those people that are truly important to us.

great post.. my fh is DETERMINED to go to the cocktail hour.. and like you , i didnt want to. i wanted the time to take some pictures, and to relax and have the cocktail hour in the bridal suite.. he has detemrined that he is going even if it means going without me.. (geesh) but like u said he has given in to me on every other issue so i'm going to relent and take pictures before the wedding and go to the cocktail hour. i'll prob be happier this way cause i LOVE food.. so i'd be mad if i didn't eat at the cocktail hour..

We're definitely planning on going to our CH. At this point, with pictures, we figure we'll get to enjoy the latter half of it. Our concern was that we didn't want to start the CH/reception too much later after the ceremony. In the end; I want us to be able to enjoy as much of it as possible!

I would want to go to my CH.......but we'll see as time goes on.....we may not even make it back in time from photos to make it to the CH.

Re: Should I go to my CH?

We went to our CH. Granted we got married at the location in the winter so we did not have the issue of taking pictures in between the CH and the reception. We also went to great expense to have certain things included in our CH that I wanted to see and taste. We used a portion of this time to greet guests as there was no receiving line and even still, we had to make rounds at the reception.

In the Jewish faith, the first few moments after a ceremony are reserved for the bride and groom to break bread as a new family alone together. Basically, DH and I went to the bridal suite for 5 minutes so I could pee and take off my veil. Then we went to the CH and chowed down.

When we were announced at the reception, everyone was on their feet and clapping for us. It was far from anti-climactic and it was rather 'grand.' I have a very hard time believing that attending a CH would take away from that. People will have their eyes on you and your DH the whole night. The day/night is about the both of you, and attending a CH could never take away from that. Enjoy it!
