I will have a wedding in Palm House. The total capacity of the venue is 300 with dance floor. But I only have 125 guests. Honestly, I don't care much about music, as long as they have some background music. I am wondering if I should have a band or DJ. Do you know how much $$ difference?

Re: Should I have a band/ DJ?
You have to decide what you want. You say that music is not that important to you. Ok, then I wouldn't spend a lot of money on it. Spend it on what you want the most.
My preference is a band. I had Niteflight. They are fabulous and so talented. They made my night! They were a pleasure to work with and I couldn't have been happier.
I always knew I would have live music and there was no choice. I just had to find a great band that was affordable and I did.
There is so much to choose out there it can be overwhelming.
Go see some bands and DJs and make up your own mind. Picture it at your wedding and see what fits.

My preference is Band! Whats better than live great music?!
Some DJ's are just not classy enough for weddings IMO and seem like they should be performing at a sweet 16 or b-day party. A formal evening affair should have a band....IMO ofcourse. But you can have w/e you prefer. Bands usually are more expensive.

I am having a band, I think it is very classy and it adds a nice touch to the night (but only if they are good!)

i personally like bands----but the upside to having a dj is that you're certain that the version you want played will be the one you hear, and it won't be the band's version of a song. if you want a reasonably priced but excellent band (imo) check out renegade (www.liparamount.com).
