Should I let this get to me??

Ok so yesterday I told someone the venue I chose (Russo's on the Bay) and got really really really upset!!!

The person I was talking with told me how it was an outdated place! It made me feel like I made a mistake at first and now I am just really upset!

She did not seem like she was jealous or anything. But do you think that maybe she was? Should I seriously reconsider my RH? I don't know what to do now ... I was excited and now i am sad

Wow, that is really tacky for someone to say that when you said you already CHOSE the place. It'd be one thing if you were still deciding.

I haven't been to Russo's but I think you'll get conflicting opinions no matter WHERE you choose so I wouldn't stress about it. If you and FH loved it, I wouldn't second guess the decision.

I know it's hard since we want everyone to love our wedding but it's impossible and we'd go mad!

eta: She could've been jealous or just plain catty. I've had some frenemies who would make snide comments but whatever, it goes in one ear and out the other.

I live near Russo's and over the past 5 years they have done a ton of construction... i havent been inside in about 3 years though... but it was never outdated...

I've been in the same position as you many times!!! (My FMIL basically told me she didn't like my dress) But everyone is allowed to their opinions and if everyone had the same vision for their day there would be one RH and one dress and we wouldn't spend all this time looking and researching. I've been to Russo's and I think it's gorgeous! Don't ever let anyone make you second guess your decisions. It's your day..all about you and your FH and no one else! If she doesn't like Russo's tell her not to have her wedding there but make sure she knows it's perfect for you!

You CANNOT listen to people's opinions bc it is what you chose not them. There is always someone that isn't going to like even the most gorgeous place. Russos is beautiful and it is pretty expensive so maybe there is some jealousy there. Who cares as long as you like it!!! Some people think my hall is GAWDY but i think its beautiful...

The only opinions that matter are yours and FH.
There will be some very opinionated people who offer their 2 cents even when not asked.
My invites were criticized when I was showing the finished product. I even had someone ask why I was having the wedding on a Sunday Morning and not another day more convenient to her.
Just remember this is your day and if Russo's makes you feel happy then do it!
I happen to like the place...especially the lift that brings the couple up to the dance floor.

Just remember why you booked the RH...Everyone is not going to love the RH, but as long as you and FH love it, that's really all that matters. I personally Love Russo's on the Bay.

I have been to a couple of my cousins weddings at Russo and they were awesome. The decor is gorgeous. It has been a couple of years since I have been there but my family is very picky eaters and I don't rememebr any complaints. And believe me if the food wasn't delicious I would of remember. You chose your RH because you and FH liked it and that all that matters. You can not please everyone. I stopped asking for peoples opinion becasue I was driving myself mad with doubt.

Is she recently married? Or better yet single? In the grand scheme of things it was not nice of her to say that even if it was her opinion! Some people truly dont think. My sister got married at Russo's and while some years ago they are still just as popular. Their food is amazing and while some other venues may be 'newer' I have tasted plenty of crappy food! The place is beautiful, service impeccable and the food to die for! As hard as it is in the grand scheme of things this is about you and your hubby ... not her!

Never been to Russo's, but I hear it is beautiful and the food is great!

Seriously, don't let it get to you!!!!! I know you want to make everyone happy, but as the other girls said it's impossible to. I wish people would just keep their nasty comments to themselves sometimes!!!!!!!!

so yea, please don't let this person get to you. I had told one of my friends that I'm going to go with Russo's back when FH and I started looking into RHs. you know she had the nerve to tell me 'oh, u're looking there it's so gaudy' . I wanted to let her have it, but it's so not worth the aggravation. what's important to us is a rh that has immaculate food and service and we happen to love the place.

First of all, tell her to STFU.

Second of all, I'll admit that Russo's is not my particular taste.. I'm more of an old mansion kinda girl... but FH loved it so I bit... and it IS beauitful, NOT outdated... it's just geared to a particular taste like ANY hall.

You like it. That's all that matters.

Outdated is not the problem. There are tons of halls that could use a renovation. Russo's is not one of them

Don't feel like you have to defend anything to anyone. It's YOUR wedding.

Hell yes you should be pissed!!! First of all, it's just their opinion, so don't worry about your choice! And I don't think Russo's is outdated at all! Second of all, who the hell would say something like that?! I would've knocked 'em upside the head!

That is awful that she said that knowing the place you chose!! Don't worry. You had your reasons for your decision and its going to be an amazing wedding. Dont let what other people say affect your decisions. You chose the place for you, it just may not be the place for her.
