Should I sell my headpiece?

Im sort of torn on this issue right now.

I have a headpiece that is a 4 inch jeweled thing on a comb. Its not a tiara but its close enough that I will probably NEVER have occasion to wear it again. Its not real so I can have it melted or restrung or anything.

But for some reason, I dont want to sell it. Im not selling my dress but I have delusions of someone using it in 20 years or so. But my headpiece will surely be tarnished/ruined by that time.

So what do you think? Let it collect dust or should I sell it and use the $$ (not that much since it was only $80 brand new) for Christmas shopping? :D

Re: Should I sell my headpiece?

Personally, I would sell it and use the money for Christmas. After all, it is not like you will use it again.

Re: Should I sell my headpiece?

I would sell it. You'll never use it again. You might look at it again but it'll just collect dust in the closet.
I'll probably pass mine along to a friend if she wants it.

Re: Should I sell my headpiece?

I wouldn't sell it. If it's not 'real'...it's probably still something that can be kept fresh if stored the right way. Wrap it in some acid free paper, and keep it in a tupperware in storage. I don't know how sentimental you are, but if you are even a little bit, you might regret it, for the maybe 50 bucks you'll get for it. And maybe one day, a future daughter can wear it to be a princess on Halloween!

Re: Should I sell my headpiece?

I would keep it- especially if you are torn on the issue. Maybe one of your friends will want to borrow it for their wedding.

Re: Should I sell my headpiece?

I say if you're torn, don't sell it. You may regret selling it one day, but you'll never regret not selling it and losing $80 (and you probably won't sell it for as much anyway)

If you didnt care about it, then I'd say sell it, but it sounds like you do . . .

Re: Should I sell my headpiece?

I don't think you should sell it either. It seems like you care about it and $50 is not worth the regret you might feel down the line.

You said in another post that you are saving certain bridal mags for your MOH. Maybe she'll want to borrow it for her wedding. Or like Mistyeyed said, your future daughter can wear it to be a princess on Haloween.

Re: Should I sell my headpiece?

I wouldn't sell it.. I'm what you would call a pack rat lol but in a good way.. something like that is something I'd like to pass down to my daughter or something.. you can buy a spray to coat the headpiece to preserve it..

Sell it before it becomes dusty and then you end up tossing it.

Re: Should I sell my headpiece?

Totally random idea...I think I saw someplace where you can take the pearls, crystals, etc from your headpiece and have it made into a necklace or earings or something. not sure what your headpiece looked like, but maybe you can do something like that with it. So that doesn't really solve your problem about wanting more $$ for xmas...in fact I guess you would actually be spending more $$ on having it made into earrings or something. But I thought that was a nice way to use an item from your wedding that would otherwise collect dust in a closet.

I would keep it. I remember playing bride and princess with my Moms when I was a little girl. My 4yr old niece loves to play wedding with mine.

Re: Should I sell my headpiece?

Keep it. Consider it money already spent. You wont get full price for it so why bother. I like the idea of a future daughter or possibly niece wearing it as a princess costume....its sentimental.

Re: Should I sell my headpiece?

DON'T DO IT!!! After you get your dress preserved it is the one thing you can try on and remember the day as you look through pictures. As someone else said, if you have a daughter she can at least play with it. I did it with my mother's. And although she longer has her dress I still have her headpiece tucked away. ; )

Re: Should I sell my headpiece?

Since not much time has passed since your wedding, why don't you just give it some time - if you don't feel like selling it now, let some time pass - wait a month or two and see if you feel differently. You could find that it's not so much an issue anymore and sell it - or you could find that you still want to keep it and then you don't!!

Re: Should I sell my headpiece?

Keep it and when I get my house I'll have dinner parties where the theme is 'bride again' and you can come over and wear it at dinner.
hee-hee!

But seriously, I wouldn't sell it either. If you're 'torn' then you're attached to it. AS someone else said, just consider money already spent.
