I prefer sit down because I feel like it is a bit more formal, CH is buffet and more casual. IMO

Re: Should we do a buffet style?
I have never been to a buffet style wedding. However, I imagine it must be nice to have the band/DJ going all day and having people choose to either eat or dance. Go for it if you can!

I am doing a buffet style dinner. We are having 275-300 people and it's an indian wedding too. With indian food, there's many. many side dishes. In order to have all this variety, we needed to do buffet! We're having the same dinner setup on two opposite sides of the room.

I have seen it where they brought the food out like it was a buffet but then served the food. I didnt like that it was at the thacher Cottage (spelt wrong). Maybe you can do a mix.

i actually prefer buffet because everyones talking and too excited, they wont eat much first time, but they can get up and get a salad when they are hungry from dancing or w/e
i like the idea of variety as well, sit down dinners u choose one and see someone else getting something like darn i wish i chose that!
so buffets you can have a little of each and u can have enough to fill yourself (some sit downs are skimpy)
i have been to tons of receptions with buffets and i like it better, personally but thats just me

I dont think the waits bad esp because appetizers are butlered/tabled before hand so you get something to eat.,

IMO, aside from any cultural or $$ type of reasons, i dont think it looks classy enough for a wedding.

We are doing a sit down. I've seen buffet weddings and the lines get to long!

buffet is ok, but only if there is someone keeping it all organized (a manager lets a table go get food every few minutes so the line doesn't get crowded, and there are people at the buffet to assist your guests too).

Re: Should we do a buffet style?
Im not a fan of buffets at wedding-its a formal affair and buffet is just not formal to me.
Also, buffet food is always good BUT there is almost always a line, the last table gets the cold food or the last serving of food.
YOu can just get up and get food whenever you want-that is the difference. They open up the buffet and usualy it gets closed down after a certain amount of time. You dont get courses like you do with a sit down.
Yes it saves money but I dont like the idea.
But if its culture and thats tradition then go for it

i dont think Leonards do buffet style?? at least they never offered it to me when i was there? i say do whichever is best for you, if they do offer buffet, then its cheaper then sit down.
They didn't offer it to be either when I went to look but they def have it, maybe you just have to askf or it? My fathers cousin is having her wedding there next month and she's doing buffet style.

Re: Should we do a buffet style?
Leonards is doing a Buffet for me, i got the feeling they rather do a sit down dinner because it cost more. They tried pushing it a few times. But i went for the buffet, alot more to choose from. I didnt want our reception to be totally tight so doing a buffet for us means the guest can get up choose their own food. Just my opinion.
