Should you write '& guest' for every single guest?

If I do this I am going to have about 20 people I don't know. Should I just write '& guest for people who have serious relationships? I don't want these people to just bring a friend or someone they barely know. What's your imput?

if you know the significant others name I would write that in on the invitationm, if there is a single person and they will be seated with alot of people they know then you dont have to give them a guest...although its nice...
people who wont be seated with people they know need to have and guest added..

I am putting &guest for people who I know are in a relationship. I am also putting & guest for younger people like my cousin who is 17, I am going to give him the option of bringing someone. But for like my 60 year old aunt, I am not putting & guest.

well, we decided that if we invited everyone we know who's single with a guest, we would add on a few thousand dollars to have people we don't even know at our wedding, so unless they are seriously involved with someone, then we are not inviting our friends with guests. All of our friends understand this and no one seems to have a problem with it (yet). Everyone will be sitting together and all of our friends know eachother or at least know a few other people that will be there, so I don't forsee many problems.

we did it for everyone figuring chances are good that people not in a serious relationship won't bring someone anyway. especially b/c a lot of them are from out of town and i doubt they'd want to do an overnight wedding trip with someone they just met. but we'll see what happens!

We did for all of our young single friends and cousins. The older single people that are not in relationships and we know never bring a guest to events, we did not include and guest. Also we includede a guest for anyone who would not know anyone else at the wedding.

We are inviting everyone with a guest - regardless of the seriousness of their relationship or if they're not in one. FH was a GM in his cousin's wedding and wasn't invited with me & said he'd never do that to someone else...we figure always give the person the option so that they enjoy themselves to the fullest.

definately no need for the older guest(like 60 year old aunt)... if you give a guest they might just bring a friend with them..

that reminds me... I had a couple of male friend... they use to get wedding invites 'and guest' and rsvp for 2 people... many times showing up solo or with another male...

we are going to write the 'guest's' name if we know them - ie - instead of bob and guest we are writing bob and jane - just b/c i hate gettign invitations that say mike and guest or deirdre and guest when we know the person!!

but is this 'inappropriate'?? my mom was kinda set back when i mentioned we wanted to do this....

i think its not inappropriate.. it personalizes it more, and acknowledges that the person is important enough that they get named too...

I only allowed the first cousins to bring a guest and friends who may not know anyone else at the wedding.

I did make an exception for one of FH 2nd cousisns b/c she has been with her BF for 4 years.

I was told unless they are seriously involved you dont put guest//if they are involved..you would try and put their name..i think this is correct info..I hope so...

We wrote 'and guest' for most of the single invites (did not include my widowed grandmother) and very few of these single people are bringing guests. Those who are bringing guests are bringing their boyfriends.

LOL....I'm 32 and a l have maybe 3 single friends left. So we won't be running into that problem. But, I will be adding 'and guest' with them.

depends on who the single person is- we are not putting and guest for all the singles- if my brother wanted to invite a date we wouldnt mind- but a cousin that im not really close to or is young then only their name will be on the invite

I had to eliminate some of them. I only put & guest for the bridal party, and people I knew who had a relationship
