Shouldn't people send thankyou cards before having another event?

FH's cousin got married last August, she had her bridal shower in August as well.

I just found out she is having her 1 year anniversary party this August.

Mind you I have not received TY's from the other two occasions, now I have to go to this party and bring a gift????

Where are my Thank yous????

I totally agree - you should send out the TY's before sending invites to another party - or even talking about having another party. However, in her defense, I have heard that it is acceptable to send out your TY's up to 1 year after the wedding.

I would consider going to the anniversary party if I had absolutely nothing to do, but no way would I send a gift! My FMIL said that she went to a wedding three years ago and still has not received a TY card. The excuse she got was that this couple was waiting for their pictures so they can be inserted in the cards. After 3 years?!
