How much were you asked to contribute to the shower costs? My sister is worried about the cost of the shower, but I can't really reassure her, because I have no idea what a moderately priced shower would cost.
Thanks ladies!

Re: Shower ?
I am in a wedding this coming September and my friends Bridal Shower was just 2 weeks ago. My friends mother gave the shower at the house and did all the cooking. Therefore we (the BP) were only responsible for the favors, prizes for the games and the gift. The git was a $500 set of luggage which we split between all 5 of us ($100 each). As for the gifts and favors i think it came to a total of $20-25 each. I dont know if this helps because it was at her home and her mom did all the cooking which of course kept the cost down. I dont know how much it would cost to have it elsewhere. Sorry!

Re: Shower ?
I was in a wedding and the brides mother did not ask us to pay for anything for the shower nor did she accept any offers. Needless to say we made sure she had a kicka$$ time at her Bachelorette party

Re: Shower ?
I think I spent about $300 in total. The bride's mother didn't have a lot of $$ so we all chipped in.

Re: Shower ?
We just gave my friend her shower this weekend and between 7 of us is was about $75 a person. It would have been more but her mom paid for the food.

Re: Shower ?
For my SIL we spent about $150 each on the shower without favors, a gift, and decorations. I think With it all we spent about 250 each. There were six of us in the BP.

Re: Shower ?
I helped plan my FSIL's shower (FH's now SIL). I was NOT in the bridal party, but NO ONE was planning a shower for this poor girl until I stepped up to the plate. I shelled out ALOT of the money upfront, and ended up spliting it with FH's mom and sister and the bride's mom. We each paid about $300. (that's 300x4). I think your sister (if she is your MOH) should get the bridal party together and figure it out.
I think...it should be split as fairly as possible. In the case I mentioned, it was, but there were 3 others in the bridal party who did NOT contribute at all and I wasn't even IN the bridal party.

Re: Shower ?
I was in one wedding where we had to contribute $60 each for the shower and a gift. There were 5 of us I think. In another I was told to give $150 just for the shower, NO gift, I think there were 7 girls in the party. (and I couldn't even attend because no one asked before booking if everyone was available but that's another story!).

Re: Shower ?
I think I spent between $75 and $100 for my friend's shower a few months ago. I think I'm going to try to have my mom and sister (she's my MOH) pay for my shower, and just have my bridesmaids pay for my bachelorette party.

Re: Shower ?
I was in my cousin's wedding last year and we put out about $200 or so for her shower, not including a gift... it was 5 of us.

Re: Shower ?
I'm the MOH in a wedding in two months.. and the contribution from the bridal party is $150. This includes: $50 towards the shower... $50 towards the gift and $50 towards the bachelorette party. I know I'm gonna probably have to put in a little extra (having difficulties with this bridal party!) But I'd rather than have to hear it from them all over again!

Re: Shower ?
My sister (my MOH) has been very proactive about this since I told her that I don't want my girls shelling out tons of $$$. She e-mailed each of them (only 3) and simply asked them what they were comfortable contributing. She outlined what the dresses and accessories would run them - and asked them to think about what they can contribute for the shower (not including gift). Once she gets their feedback, she's going to get back to them with some options, based on the finances. She basically told them that if one wants to give more than the others, than it should be reflected in their gift, and not as an additional contribution to the shower expenses (so they feel like they are all on even footing).
She's a very practical banker - thank god!

Re: Shower ?
Ive been in ALOT of weddings and to be honest most of the time the mother and MOH (usually a sis in these cases) have paid for the shower. We (the BP) were then asked to be in charge of a certain thing (ie- favors, invites, games, wish well rental etc)

Re: Shower ?
I have three adult females in my BP who are not family. The rest are children. The three ladies work and have families so I told them to ask my mother and two sisters for help in planning and with money. It gives my sisters and mom a lot of pleasure to do these things. I asked FH's mother for a list of people to invite for a shower and since she doesnt really like he idea of showers, i wouldn't expect a contribution from her side. Its ok though.
