Shower a week before the wedding

so i found out yesterday(my MOH is horrible at keeping secrets) that she is planning my shower for july 4th or 5th
i just feel that a week before is like reallllllllllllyyyyyyyyy close and i don't want people to not come since my wedding is the next week.
I'm OOT so i would have to be on LI for it anyway and i don't want to hurt MOH's feelings but i just kinda feels like a gimmie gimmie gimmie situation and i'm not at all like that.

what would you girls do? Suck it up and leave it be or ask her to make it at least 2 weeks before?

I think I would ask her if she could please do it before that. I think a week b4 the wedding is cutting it close. To pay for a gift a week before, and then pay for a wedding gift might be a bit much for people...esp right now....

A week before seems a bit close to the wedding, IMO. Talk to her about it - maybe it was the only time they could set it up and accomodate everyone. Mine's only about a month before and even I thought that was a bit on the close side...

ITA!!! Maybe you can give her dates for a few months before your wedding that you will be in town... she might get the hint that way too.

You at least gotta have two weeks in between to allow people to get paid again jk

what really stinks is that i might only be able to come down next month for my cousins wedding we may or may not be down for easter... i told my parents we weren't since we have a wedding to pay for but we may still try to squeeze in the extra $500 to fly down for easter. ugh who would have thought a shower would be so stressful

Ohhhhh I didnt think of that either.... BUTTTTTT I would def. talk to her to make sure... bc on the other hand, she could be telling the truth lol Yea, def. give her the dates of when you'd be in town so that she can work around that b/c a week b4 is going to be tight for people. You dont want people not to show up to your bridal shower bc they cant afford it , ya know. Im sure the date isnt written in stone and if you just mention it to her and tell her you appreciate everything she is doing for you- but also explain why you wouldnt think it would be a good idea... I think she'd totally understand.

the only other time she knows for sure i will be on LI is next month and that would be kinda crappy to do it 2 days after my cousins wedding

so i have no idea but either way at this point i just would kinda rather not bother having a shower at all. I told her that and she was so pisssed and told me NO ONE WAY OR ANOTHER YOU WILL GET YOUR SHOWER
then i proceeded to run to the corner and hide

Awww I kinda feel bad for her she seems like she really wants to throw you a shower but I agree, the times (2 days after your cousins wedding & 1 week before your wedding) aren't really good times. Esp. for your guests.

Not only do I think a week before is way too close, but you are going to be under a lot of stress getting things done, like the little stuff, and maybe some people will be away for that weekend since it's 4th of July. I really don't think she would get offended. I say be honest. Good Luck

I just never heard of a shower that close. I would def tell her that you really would appreciate if it's done a few months before the wedding.

Yeah. . .I totally wouldn't give you a shower gift a week before the wedding, no matter how much I loved you! (No offense.)

So, are the OOT people going to be expected to stay in town for a WEEK after your shower? She REALLY needs to rethink the date because it's a logistical NIGHTMARE.
